Shock Poll Sees Half Of Europeans Brand Eu 'irrelevant'
'A Brussels-based think tank published a survey that showed a majority of European citizens were not enamoured with the European project.
According to the Friends of Europe think tank, nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of EU citizens questioned do not think life would be any worse without the bloc.
Another 49 percent of Europeans view the EU as an "irrelevant" project, with grievances around the lack of transparency and anger at EU leaders "not focusing on the things people care about".

The UK are one of the largest contributers to the EU budget.
The only reason the smaller / poorer country join or say in is that get more out of than they put in.
We are the "mugs" of Europe, helping to prop it up, the sooner we get out the better.
Once our money stops pouring in to the EU pot some of these other countries may wonder why they are staying in.
Or maybe the EU will come to their senses and change some of the "rules" so that a country like ours is not swamped with Romainan criminals and Roma gypsies.

No not at all. They are afraid of others following. First will be Italy, then Hungary, Poland, Greece then all others will follow in a Domino affect around the EU. THE Brussels elite, all of the unelected and we will all trade with each other under rules suitable to the particular country. People will be able to work in another European country and settle provided they are willing to work and support themselves and pay taxes. Germany will no be happy after losing another chance to rule Europe, the third in over a hundred years. Look at all the billions saved!
Well Romania is in the EU so I don’t think its citizens are even subject to schengen. Read the posts Zac.
As a Europhile you have to be better at trying to convince people you are right. Especially when you change, in your head at least, what has been written to try to get the answer you want. Most people seem to realise you don’t read the posts properly, change what has been written and don’t listen to the answers anyway.
But I must admit it is fun reading and sometimes replying to what you write because I don’t actually know in real life anyone who comes across in such pompous and arrogant way.

Cassandra, just because you don’t understand most things I write, doesn’t make them pompous and arrogant. I’m sorry they go over your head but I can’t do much about that.

As cassa says, you don’t need to read up on Schengen at all to know why large numbers of Romanians are settling in the UK. Romania is an EU member and its citizens have the absolute right to travel here, to settle and work (if they are so disposed) here, and to claim many benefits. Schengen has nothing to do with it. Not being a Schengen member does not restrict the right of free movement for EU citizens. All it does is allows non-members to impose border controls for arrivals from other EU nations (which Schengen members cannot). But when at the border, arrivals from other EU countries cannot be denied entry (unless an individual has been personally barred from entering the UK).
