Would clapping really induce anxiety? Really?.

https://metro.co.uk/2018/10/02/union-bans-clapping-to-avoid-anxiety-as-students-are-told-use-jazz-hands-instead-7996892/

I Note Sara Khan quoted in the link is the same Sara Khan who said "We, as an exec team, believe that Kipling stands for the opposite of liberation, empowerment, and human rights..."

How much rubbish can one person spout?

Oh good grief.

My daughter has Aspergers and doesn’t like loud and raucous noise like that.

But for goodness sake this is ridiculous. You can’t dumb down to the lowest common denominator.
I hope these students are putting as much energy into their studies as they are in coming up with these ridiculous PC items.
Students do come up with moronic demands and causes. IMO it's about learning to have influence and responsibility and so forth. Those most into it get elected for union positions and impose nonsense on the rest, thinking they've done something useful, which unfortunately may not be the case. Some actually find something useful to push though.

..... going off what we've seen so far, I bet she has plenty more up her sleeve :P
I don't see why it matters. Some say students have too much time on their hands. they might say those who post here about it (including me!) have too much time on their hands. Seems harmless to me.
Depends on the definition of harmless. Banning something is forcing others to your will. No, it won't kill or maim them, but it's likely to cause justified ill feeling.
It matters because these creatures aspire to be the leaders, movers and shakers of tomorrow.

They must be confronted at every opportunity.

"Seems harmless to me."

You're probably right, that in a bedwettingly pathetic outpost people are considered too delicate that the universally accepted way to show appreciation is being stopped, if that's what pleases them and allows them to appear so achingly right-on. I'll just put it down to them being morons.
It should be introduced amongst the audience of the X Factor.

Royal Exchange Manchester - does relaxed perfomances for this section. Went to Queen Margaret in a relaxed perf last week
Very good
( accepted that there were deaf people in the audiece)
wish they'd try it on strictly instead of ruining every song clapping like trained seals.
The National Union of Students (NUS) has been using BSL clapping since 2015, so whilst this isn't new and is useful in certain situations going so far as banning applause is pushing it too far.

However they have to fill up their time somehow at these Senate Sessions I imagine.
What are 'Jazz hands'?
".... going off what we've seen so far, I bet she has plenty more up her sleeve :P "

err, i dont think its coming from her sleeve..more like her rs
Trying to make men look like soy-boys.

More silent clapping.
Morrison’s have quiet hour Ona Saturday morning for those on the spectrum.

I can say it is no quieter than other times because people are noisy lol

The only real difference with other times is no music and the lights are low.
I am amazed that these snowflakes have the intelligence to state anything of merit that deserves applause.
I believe 'kill all white men' will always bring the house down, retro.
