On BBC Spotlight tonight - How stupid is this, ostensibly for 'saving money'

So folk get lost up there and next thing is the rescue services are called out......cost!

If Councils want to save money, the Cornish could drop their language names from road and street signs. After all, only 500 folk speak the language - and, officially, it sis die so no one really knows if the pronunciation is right. Now that is a waste.....

Cant be assisting the lags hopping over the wall at Princetown!
Without a link, it is difficult to see who is at fault.

But no one should walk over Moors without a map. And they should not navigate by sign posts.

Presumably, there are already signposts in position, but the Council have decided they cannot afford to replace them when they fall into disreoair in 10-15 years time.

Yawn, none story.
Retrocop,
Great to see you back, I have missed you.
Hope to bump into you again soon. :-)
"disreoair", one of those Cornish words?
Thanks Gromit.

Is that Highland speak for 'disrepair', Douglas...

Looked for a link - will be on Spotlight shortly....

Ah, 30 miles of Dartmoor, with a Bergen, a Rifle, a Map and a Time Limit,
Fond memories indeed :o(
Sorry Douglas for the typo.
It was quite easy to work out what my intended word was, but sadly you were too thick to do that.
Have a nice evening.
Tell me Retrocop,
Were you abstaining, or locked out until now?

We always had our differences, but I always liked debating with you, welcome back.
Ooh, I'm smarting Grommers, lighten up a wee bit.
Cornish became officially extinct in 1773 when the last native speaker died. It has been revived academically but as it is very akin to Welsh some elements of pronunciation might be discerned.

"Ah, 30 miles of Dartmoor, with a Bergen, a Rifle, a Map and a Time Limit,

A warm up exercise for the great 1982 yomp ahead.Bet you carried more than that in Falklands and the senors were'nt hitting you and your mates of 42 with incoming. :-( Still got the coveted green prize?

I have indeed, it cost me blood, sweat and tears, did that.
Abstaining! Abstaining! Wash your mouth out Gromit. I was cashiered with dishonour. Risk you take for sticking your head over the parapet and ruffling feathers.
Can't see me doing that again so won't be locking horns with anyone even when goaded. I made a promise (not the pledge) to a mate, :-)
"I have indeed, it cost me blood, sweat and tears, did that."

I know and you wrote that in the literal sense. :-(
You came out more or less intact due to good fitness I guess.
Retrocop,
Sorry to hear that. I was once suspended for a weekend ( a naive ED didn’t recognise sarcasm) and it was very frustrating.
Please try and keep onside of the terms and conditions, and I look farward convrsering with you in the near future. :-)

Fitness helped us all, not all The Argies had it, got shot once, not too serious, ricochet went between my legs (sweats at the thought) and took a chunk out of my inner left thigh, left an interesting scar.
Anyone who goes on foot onto Dartmoor needs to know what they are doing and where they are going. Otherwise they will be in trouble.

Signposts should be just a confirmation.
Well the crown jewels are still intact. I can appreciate the sweat loss though. Phew. :-)
