While his daughter is using her father's funeral to sock it to the Donald, are these vets right socking it to her 'war-hero' dad?

It was McCain's wish that the President not be invited to his funeral wasn't it?

Yes, I believe it was, - even more paranoia! The truth is that Trump has always supported the veterans and McCain has continually done everything to stifle them for reasons which seem apparent in these testimonies
Trump has always shown great generosity and support to the Vietnam veterans and ex-pow's.
There was a wonderful cartoon in one of the papers the other day...I can't recall which.
It showed two flagpoles, one representing McCain with the caption, "Hero" and one showing a naked Trump, billowing in the wind with his privates hidden only by his over-long red tie and the caption, "Zero".
Summed the difference between them up pretty adequately, I thought!
"Trump has always shown great generosity and support to the veterans and ex-pows". Out of a sense of guilt, perhaps?
Also, when he dissed McCain by saying he preferred his heroes not to have been captured, was he not dissing ALL prisoners of war? Just a thought.
Yet more dis for POTUS.

david, yes. It is an amazing thing about Trump-haters how myopic they are when given the facts. He didn't see active service in Vietnam, true, but neither did Bush, Clinton nor Obama, though he gets scoffed at. The testimonies by the above veterans seem to show why Trump feels as he does about this professional war-hero.

As the other link shows, he has for more than thirty years supported financially and with his time the war veterans, but what he gets from the above is "Out of a sense of guilt, perhaps?" and reference to simple-minded cartoon (for the simple-minded?) calling him a 'zero'.
Would Obama have been of an age to have served in Vietnam ?
Obama was born in 1961, so no. Trump was born in 1946.
During the Vietnamese war Bush valiantly served his country in a Coast Guard unit based in Virginia.
"During the Vietnamese war Bush valiantly served his country in a Coast Guard unit based in Virginia."

For 'Coast Guard ... Virginia' read Texas Air National Guard.

I briefly caught part of the memorial service and it struck me as odd if not ironic that Vietnam War Criminal (IMHO) Henry Kissinger was reading a eulogy.
Kissinger is reported to have said, power is an aphrodisiac.
In his dreams?

A word or two from my friend styxhexenhenhammer. Anyone not familiar with him, please don't be put off by his somewhat theatrical persona; he is one of the sharpest knives in the draw;

You have lost your mind.
Amerikee is full of conspiracy theorists
and some are support the idea that POWs were detained in Viet after er America won the war in 1973

The POWs were detained secretly - as a bargaining counter. and no one knew about them which is why they are such a good bargaining counter

McCain as they said - was in charge of "finding" them and after god knows how many bucks spent in this wild goose chase

he said look boys there are nt any

and was met with a thousand crazies crying - o yes there are
before they returned to their monitors and the 9/11 conspiracy sites

[ as opposed to the UK where there are 6 conspiracy theorists about Tavistock Square 2005 and about one and a half saying Manchester was a false flag attack - not in Manchester, I think he would be lynched]

// There was a wonderful cartoon in one of the papers the other day...I can't recall which. //

the Times - just to add a fact or two to this thread
Trump 'actively' avoided Vietnam on more than one occasion. And no links you can provide will ever erase that fact. The guy is an out and out coward and bully.
Oh can anyone tell me why one fo the pall bearers at McCains funeral was wearing a clear plastic top when it wasnt raining ?
Peter, just looked at some pics and i believe you are referring to the military pall bearers as they carried the coffin down the steps. It would appears that the plastic sheet is actually draped over the coffin and a gust of wind has blown some of it over one of the uniformed men.
If true, Spicerack (23.55), at least I must have had a mind to lose, unlike you, with your dogged support for a man who is manifestly nothing but a dim oaf!
