Was so sorry to hear that Alex Salmond had resigned from the SNP last night. I'm not altogether surprised as he is an honourable man and would be thinking about the effect the allegations against him would have on his party. Quote from BBC news.

"First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has spoken of her "huge sadness" following the resignation of former SNP leader Alex Salmond from the party.

Mr Salmond announced he was quitting on Wednesday amid allegations of sexual misconduct, which he denies.

The ex-first minister said he intended to apply to rejoin the party once he had an opportunity to clear his name.

Ms Sturgeon called Mr Salmond her "friend and mentor for almost 30 years" and said she understood his decision."

best thing to do ...we have to await the findings before any valid comments can be made really..many an "honourable" man has been found to be not so....hope he is innocent...
I don't like him one bit, but I think he should be given access to the alleged evidence against him. Withholding it isn't right.
Yes I don't hold with his politics but he seems to be a pleasant chap.

No man is safe against these none proven allegations, and I think until the person has been found to be guilty, their name should not be divulged.

This photo's doing the rounds on Facebook with the caption

"Very nice Ms Sturgeon but I asked you to hold my calls."

\\What's not appropriate
Projects that involve loans, investments, equity, shares, or anything relating to a criminal investigation.//

criminal investigation..
webbo ?
Technically it's not a criminal investigation, at least not yet.
right..well I agree ..doesn't sit well !
he's wealthy enough to pay his own bills !
There is one big concern, what if he is found 'guilty' and the allegations are true, how will the people that donated feel ?
Presumably, they'd feel cheated or duped.

I think it's cynical to crowdsource funding for his legal challenge, whether or not he's guilty.
I think it's greedy and clutching !
Webbo, that's unbelievable! Not a poor man by any means.

I knew I didn't like him.
do you get legal aid in Scotland and, if he had to pay from his own pocket he would get any costs reimbursed if found innocent.
I was just about to say something similar, Webbo. If he's sure he's going to be exonerated, why would he ask for funding? If he won, he'd surely be awarded costs - and compensation.
Again, he wouldn't be found innocent because he hasn't been charged with anything. This is a legal challenge he himself is bringing -- and then asking for money for.

I have no comment on the claims of harassment -- as Minty has said, we need to wait for further details, and he should be presumed innocent for the time being.
i don't like him either but he should be given all opportunities to clear his name.
I certainly won't be giving any money to Alex Salmond , I think he has enough money to fund this himself !
