Post mortem reports are awaited, but that poor woman on holiday with her parents and her three children and suddenly this. I can’t imagine how she’s coping. A complete nightmare!

Both tragic and worrying. I read a report earlier that said other guests were very ill with food poisoning.

A real horror story, isn't it, pastafreak. The daughter said neither were ill.
That's truly awful, poor family.

Carbon Monoxide?
Dreadful isn't it? Both parents gone in the twinkling of an eye. The poor daughter and grandchildren. I hope they have some sort of support.
Not carbon monoxide.....that would be obvious from a superficial examination of the body, even before post mortem.

I am flummoxed at the moment.
The DM...with their usual exacting reportage...said the wife died of grief after the husband died of a heart attack.

^Tut! Where on earth do they get it from?! Not exactly in good taste is it.

//Thomas cook told them "nothing to worry about, all is fine".//

Thomas Cook have moved those guests who want to remain in Egypt to another hotel and are flying the rest home.
Horrendous to have both of your parents die suddenly like that whilst on holiday. I think it will take the poor daughter a vey long time to get over this. Scary in the extreme.
One can understand one person collapsing and dying whilst on holiday but a married couple?
Question Author
The daughter is saying that the Egyptian authorities are preventing her from leaving the country. They want to ensure they receive payment to cover costs incurred I expect.

Pasta; the report that the "husband died of a heart attack and the wife died of grief and nervous shock" came from the Hurghada hospital chief, a Dr Maged Eladawy. You can't blame the DM for reporting what he said.
Of course it is not unknown for a happily married couple to die within hours of each other but there does appear to be something 'not quite right' in this instance. Only hope for all concerned that the cause of death is firmly established.
Just heard on local radio that Egyptian medical authorities now confirm that E-coli WAS a factor in the deaths of the Burnley couple.
