are going to raise funds for the local Teignmouth RNLI etc - after two of their staff tried to go swimming in a 6 foot swell of the harbour wall....two local RNLI jumping into the water to go and save them, the two RNLIs ought to get a bravery citation, as the station had cancelled their practice owing to the dangerous conditions.

Too much W beer probably, but well done to the chain offering to donate on behalf of these unbelievable pr.ts

Trying to find the article but mentioned on SW news (Beeb)

Good on the spoons but they'd be better off giving the crews free beer. Most of the dosh that goes to the RNLI gets swallowed up by it's snout in the trough administrators. As is the way with big chirridee these days.
So true TTT, the work the lifeboats do is heroic but as RNLI have a huge office near me and I know several work colleagues who have left us to go work for them I know they spend almost shameful amounts of their money on office staff and business projects.
I used to socialise with their IT contractors in Poole. I could tell you stuff that'd make your toes curl. I won't donate to any of the main charities now. I'd rather go to a life boat station and give the guys a xmas box personally.
just the other day in seahouses watched the rescue boat be deployed in response to a flare... silly daytrippers in difficulties... amazing to watch..turns out only one retained and paid crew member..all the others are volunteers... brave people who really deserve to be recognised financially... underfunded or ill administered ? either way should not be the way of it !
Yes it's Poole I'm talking about and could probably tell you the same stories
"...but as RNLI have a huge office near me"

Indeed, Prudie. Went past it last week. Enormous premises. You could buy a lot of lifeboats for the cost of that.
