It's heartbreaking, it really is.
To be burnt to death, not dying by smoke inhalation, but to be actually alive and you body engulfed in flames...Ah, man!
Absolutely horrific. And if the fires were set by arsonists as suggested, I hope they catch the perpetrators.
California and Oregon have suffered from extreme heat recently, as has Canada. Japan, Russia and Oman have recorded extreme temperatures. Even the UK is experiencing a prolonged hot period with drought measures, and moorland fires.

Global warming anyone?
It looks like he’ll on Earth those poor people.

The economy collapsed, then these fires, and the shooting in Canada.
In all these wild-fire disasters, apart from the human tragedy, I can't but help think of the agonizing deaths of domestic and wild animals.

Gromit....was global warming blamed in 1976?
Ummmm

In 1976 we were worried about an ice age. (True)
‘Time’ magazine 1974

// When meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe, they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age. //

Wow.

It always puzzles me when it's reported that we've had the hottest summer since 1976 or the most rain fall in 30 years....so in reality it's nothing new.

I'm not saying I don't believe in global warming though.
Global warming would shift the gulf stream, we would have cooler wetter weather in keeping with our latitude. Worse winters too. Indications are stronger for an extended Maunder minimum which could if it continued for longer than normal result in a mini ice age, with a significant drop in global temperatures especially if combined with increased volcanic activity. We are still in normal range at the moment.

it is just tragic... deliberate fire raising seems to be the thought process of Greek police according to news this morning...how could anyone do that ! I'd toss them into the flames !
I don't understand the mind set of some people. It's tragic.
The fires were apparently started on purpose, so is that still covered under global warming?
It's the dry hot summer. Someone might have started a fire not realising how quickly it would spread.

No just the usual cause of so many bad things in the world, greed and stupidity.

Probably most people's worst nightmare, certainly mine.
