So, I Am One For Chasing Criminals But Does This Seem A Bit Heavy Handed?

When first reading it I thought it was some other charge and this was the start. But no, the offence was: 'assault by using a straw to fire a chip, hitting a woman in the face'.

Now firstly one does have to wonder how you get a chip(even a manky MaccyD one) into a straw but secondly does this really warrant hours of Police time : "He was arrested and prosecutors took months to build up a case against him," when they claim they dont have resources to go after burglars (even when there are clues/cctv).

Perhaps I have missed something?

One word for you, HEPATITIS,
No one or no ones family should be put through the living hell of hepatitis contracted by a chip spitting moron.
^Oh good grief!
Shurely chipatitis.
If it had stopped at the chip firing stage then maybe it would have blown over. Seems there was also a scuffle.
Perhaps he was a long term troublemaker and this was...

I guess the pea shooter is out of vogue these days then.

I believe that //spitballing// which is chewing tissue and spitting it at high velocity at someone’s face is a felony in some states in the US after people were blinded by this disgusting ,unsavoury and uncouth practice.
Douglas, you read my mind. Amazon could be in trouble. They, along with several other outlets, are still selling peashooters.

Not sure why my 'good grief' comment has been removed. Is saying that against the rules now?
Pity there's no CCTV, I'd like to see how this is done.

No - I do not mean a US example of what our friends are describing but this incident.
I do hope not Naomi, it's a phrase I use a lot lately.
Mamyalynne, //I'd like to see how this is done. //

How what is done? Blowing a chip through a straw? I guess you put a chip in a straw ... and blow.

I think the police were called because of the scuffle .... not because of the chip blowing.

How is "good grief" offensive or patronising?

Spath, //Naomi your comment was patronising other members//

No it wasn't. It indicated that I thought the preceding comment was nonsense - and as far as I'm aware there's no rule against thinking that.
I know what a chip and a straw are - thank you.
