No, its because he is a former Prime Minister of a minor insignificant country, and someone that most British people will not have even heard of. Everyone has heard of Donald Trump, no one has heard of ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The reason it is not repirted in this country is because no one is interested.
I seem to remember that E.R. received Erdogan not very long ago... can't remember any major reporting of protests about it. But then, very long ago, I'm pretty sure she received Idi Amin (open to correction re. that). It's the office, not the person, don't know why people can't understand that.
