I'm not one your everyday BBC bashers that often fill the AB pages, but was it necessary for the BBC to scramble a helicopter, and have it hover over the ex foreign secretary's official residence, to try and get a glmpse of him leaving it? How much is that costing?

Are you sure it was a Whirlybird and not a drone?
well, there's no flooding at the moment and Cliff Richard's not doing anything, so I suppose they have to use it to stop it getting rusty. They'd probably prefer to use a cheap drone, though.
1, Carlton House terrace apparently

( used to be the exotic Palace that george IV built and then got pulled down around 50 y later and replaced with THAT! )

Well, the BBC news announcer stated it was a helicopter.
ZM, I had three of those weird Osprey things go over my garden this morning, they should have asked to put a camera on one of them. Not that Boris is in my garden (I hope).
// and Cliff Richard's not doing anything,//

you mean he should be outside singing - 'we're all going on a summer holiday'? - - - - or his own rendition of
D_I_V_O .....

interesting thought
the BBC used to share the helicopter with ITV, but I don't know if that's still the case.
he's probably at Wimbledon, PP
You're so funny jno!
They're buzzing my gaff too - or maybe taking water to the fires.
We've just had 5 helicopters go over us. I think they are practicing for the Donald.
Of course it was necessary as it’s news and news=viewers=cash=helicopter fuel+pilots wages as well as probably 97% profit.
ah, so they'll have anti-blimp guns, Hopkirk?
Is that a fact hopkirk? Your post reminded me that the other day I saw 4 helicopter gunships flying in a number 4 on a dice formation. I was shocked as I’ve seen the big green 2 bladed copters flying one after another but never a helicopter gunship let alone 4 and these were armed with what appeared to be machine guns or missiles.
This was at Allgate East, Tower Bridge.
This was one big one and four little ones, which would fit with the Donald plus escorts.
Were the 3 helicopter gunships as seen in Iraq,Afghanistan?
I meant 4

Are you talking about the BBC, or the chances of Rees-Mwogg getting the vacant post :-)
Not sure the Donald's crimper wants too many helicopters about the place.
