News . . . Papers . . . Or Lack Thereof!

Apparently, someone made a decision to allow the printers more time last night to produce the newspapers for today. The consequence is, that all the local newsagents, their paper delivery teams and most important, their customers, (who buy newspapers), have, at least, been inconvenienced. It has been suggested that the rationale for the additional time was . . . to sell more newspapers. The fact that millions of people seek to collect their paper - or have it delivered early in the morning and are now without one appears to have escaped attention - not to mention the disruption to their daily routine!

Did something, apparently important to a few people, happen last night to cause all this drama? :-P
do they seriously believe that people turn to newspapers for the latest football news?
my paper has just arrived at its usual time
If there was a delay, it could have been to report on the England match and the result. The match went to extra-time and penalties, so finished later rgan planned.

But lack of papers is more likely to do with the wholesale delivers, usually WH Smith. They have started to contract out deliveries to self-emplyed drivers (usually immigrants) and the service has deteriorated rapidly.

1st world problems eh? lol
Outrageous! It's not like you can read the news online...
Oh for heaven's sake, put the tv on and watch the news for a change. If that is the worse thing that happens today you are really really lucky.
Don't believe everything you read in the papers, Flonksa :)
I’m afraid I like my proper paper. No one gets ‘news’ as such about major sport etc from a newspaper but that isn’t the point.
What I find irritating is that often the Saturday papers are not ready for ages as it takes so long to assemble all the bits!
Do you have a link to this? Usually what happens is that later editions are published later but early editions go out as normal
Don’t know where you live but my daughter has a paper round and she did it OK today in normal time.
Perlease!
Can always get a free Guardian or two at the rail station to use for your bog roll then you wont be so desperate waiting for the paper in the morning
Please, everybody. Don't mention the score from last night or anything else of significance which happened yesterday. I don't watch tv, nor listen to the radio, i don't own a smart-phone and i cannot work a laptop. So i am totally reliant on my morning paper to inform me of all the important issues. Ta very muchly.
shouldn't this be in the joke section?

Blimey Gromit, those immigrants will be the downfall of this country.
All the papers in our local shop were there at the normal time and all had the football stuff up to date

Yep, it is a well known characteristic of a country down fall, that it starts with the morning paper being delivered late.

Due to 'immigrant drivers' all part of the thin end of the wedge if you ask me.

What next, indigenous Brits late getting to their places of employment due to immigrant Bus, Train and Taxi drivers?
