Please let's have a decent debate on the real need for this.

Celebrate if one needs to, but Westminster Abbey really?

For the innaugural one, why not?

(Better?)
it has probably been pushed up the agenda for mre publicity because of the shoddy way those peoplehave been treated recently
AOG....I don't understand why not Westminster Abbey?
Yet more virtue-signalling from the good old C of E.
If we want social inclusion and equality all living happily together these minority 'celebrations need to stop.

All it will do is garner support for those that wish for divsion.
It seems appropriate for this anniversary.
In your opinion what events are deserving of WA and which aren't,
aog ?
Presumably it is OK for the 70th Anniversary of the NHS, or the 100th Anniversary of the RAF, or a thanksgiving service for the life of Sir Peter Hall?

Or should we just mothball the Abbey until the next coronation?
"Presumably it is OK for the 70th Anniversary of the NHS, or the 100th Anniversary of the RAF, or a thanksgiving service for the life of Sir Peter Hall? "

The NHS and the RAF are for us all, no group is singled out so if it really is wanted then not so bad.

Sir Peter Hall had to look him up so no idea why he should.
There are lots of things held at Westmenyter Abbey- eg William & Kate married there, and a performance of Haydn next week, NHS anniversary 5th July. 100 years of the RAF on 10th July.

Well judging by what uncontrolled mass immigration has done to this country, I don't think celebrating the start of it, is the thing to do, especially in our ancient Abbey.
Wundrush has nothing to do with uncontrolled mass immigration. Why do you not 'get' basic facts before you wade in with stupid comments, AOG?
Good of you to finally explain your view, ta and sigh.
"Wundrush has nothing to do with uncontrolled mass immigration. "

Well I suppose it could be argued that this (legal) mass sort of controlled (no one was bought in for a specific task before they boarded as far as I know) immigration paved the way for what became mass uncontrolled immigration. A tenuous link perhaps?
Very tenous but no doubt your intellectual equivalent will side with you.
I'm shocked by some of the petty and nasty remarks that appear sometimes.
* Shakes head in disbelief *
AOG and others...maybe a bit of education regarding immigration to this country wouldn't go amiss.

Between 1951 and 1961 the number of Caribbean people living in Britain in search of a better life increased from 15,000 to 172,000.
Any who pray is my "intellectual equivalent "?

I presume this is more sneering?

But that apart, if I do need educating, please provide a better text book than self editing Wikipedia.
