The President of the United States is visiting on a working visit.

No matter who the incumbent he/she should be welcomed.
YMB, absolutely right.
I don't like him but YES he should come.
He should certainly come. How welcome he’ll be is another matter. As for Friday 13th, you couldn’t make it up ...
he makes my skin crawl but i don't see why he shouldn't be invited to the uk

Of course he should. What possible reason could there be to not invite him?
gulliver1

Yes, May should invite him, and yes he should come.

And there should be absolutely no protests against him. None whatsoever.
In fact, if it could work, I would like to start a campaign to persuade every Trump-hater to stay home and not travel up to Scotland to protest against him.
Question Author
SP 1814, What makes you think there will be protests?.
It’s an important meeting as it’ll follow the NATO summit and it seems Trump might meet Putin while in Europe too. That is not a prospect to fill anyone with delight.
