The School of Art?
Not when it was designed and built......not retro-fitted......they might have been going to be installed this time round but there wasn't much of the rebuilt building to which they could be affixed.
I was heartbroken after the first fire but hopefully that it could be restored.
it makes me wonder, why sprinkler systems are not standard, i deplore such a waste of public money, let alone students access to said buildings, such waste and lack of planning, who got a back hander in this one...hush hush
As a confirmed cold-hearted *** and general grump I find it really hard to get upset about an unoccupied building going up in flames, even for the second time.
You can only try to legislate for lazy, stupid, careless and unlucky, in the end it's only some stone and wood. Nobody died.
What we need now is an expert to convince spendthrift arty types that it's time to move on to a modern, fit for purpose building somewhere else and not pretend the the original can be replaced.
