What a load of nonsense......."she has a pencil case and my parents can't afford one for me"

RIGHT...first lesson....work hard and you will be able to afford a pencil case for your children.
I have been left traumatised from my school days , when everyone else were decked out in expensive trainers for P E - and little Bazile was left to suffer the ignominy of having to wear cheap nasty black pumps
Instead of banning pencil cases because one may trendier than another...why don't they have lessons on how to be respectful of each other. That's the problem...NOT designer gear.

just had a quick look on Amazon. The cheapest pencil case advertised was £1.32!

Spath, would you care to rephrase that. lol
Ah Jack, there are even cheaper ones but they are just 'pencil cases' not 'the pencil cases' of the moment.

Which will of course change next week or month.

Spath is far too young to understand the reference.
Jackdaw, kids are being bullied because they've got the £1.32 pencil case, not because they haven't got one at all.

There is a sinister side to Girls and their obsession with erasers, if yours aren't Unicorns or Strawberry scented then tread carefully.

When I was teaching the first years used to go swimming on Friday mornings. They had to bring a carrier bag to carry their wet costumes and towels home. One boy forgot his carrier. His teacher kindly offered him one of hers. On seeing that it was a Netto bag he refused to go swimming rather than be seen with such a bag.
