What does it say about Sadiq Khan that he refuses to go on ITVs Good Morning Britain to be interviewed about the increased violence and murders on London’s streets since he started as mayor? Should he not face up to the situation....or quit?

it's a terrible state of affairs to be sure...
Not sure that going on a lightweight magazine/chat show could be classed as "facing up to the situation".

Apparently they’ve been repeatedly asking Khan to go on the show to discuss the issue and he refuses

Nothing lightweight about the way Piers MORGAN conducts such interviews. Maybe if he went on while Ben Shepard is hosting he’d be ok
Piers is brill ...you are probably correct, Khan is a bit scared to face up to his relentless, uncompromising direct line of questioning...
And of course there's absolutely nothing he can do about any of it so of all his options, hiding must seem the best to him.

Pathetic. He should be doing all in his power to tackle the situation and face up to it.
//...doing all in his power to tackle the situation ...//

I don't suppose he is any different to past mayors , who I assumed did all in their power to tackle the situation

What's your solution to get rid of knife / gun crime in London ?
GMB, hardly a tv programme for the intellectuals .
All the more reason to favour Mr Khan then, surely.
He should never have been made Mayor of our capital in the first place, the useless swine.
If it was just one white lad who murdered a person of colour he would soon take off on one, along with others.
the solutions are not straightforward, and could take years to enact. since (as AndyHughes mentioned on another thread) politicos only look as far as the next election and don't take decisions that might result in others taking the credit after the next election we are, in the words of John Laurie, "Dooooomed".
His biggest problem is that he was an advocate of removing stop and seach. It certainly does now appear that decision was flawed so there is no way he would want to be interviewd as that is where it would go.

To be fair to him he is limited in what he can do but rather than Banging on about Brexit and Trump maybe if he put the same effort into banging on about this and took more walks around London bouroughs with the issue instead of touring the US he might escape the critism.
He was not elected to entertain ITV viewers. Appearing on GMB won’t achieve anything, so his time is better used elsewhere.
Livingstone and Johnson were not exactly breakfast TV regulars either.
Last years London under Mayor Khan, delivered the lowest murder rate for 50 years,so his record is good. The recent increase is more likely due to central Government rather than anything Khan has done (or not done).
"The recent increase is more likely due to central Government "

Like to justify your claims?

Asian grooming gangs, Black drug gangs, Ah! the joys and advantages of our multi-racial, multicultural country.

//Out of the 44 police forces, 38 recorded a rise in knife crime//

It does seem like a national trend

I'm sure you don't see it like that. Are you doing the devil's advocate thing again?
