But the difference I can see at the moment is that with Stephen Lawrence he was targeted and killed by racists for racist reasons.

This young man was killed after a fight broke out at a house party. And at the moment is not race related. Unless of course I missed it in the article.

Young folk are dropping like flies, especially in the capital but a 25 year old case still seems to get more coverage.

More historic guilt and self flagellation maybe?

The big difference is that with Lawrence it was white on black for racist reasons and nothing else, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Black on black over trivia doesn't have the same news value. It's really about motive rather than the crime, yet a life is a life just the same.

The killers of Kriss Donald were caught and dealt with....(one could ask if it was simply *because* they weren't white, if one wanted to be an agitator....) and the case wasn't a 'fubar' as that of Stephen Lawrence has been.

The Stephen Lawrence case was one of the most important in UK history. If I am not mistaken it brought in the law whereby an acquitted person could be re-tried for the same crime. Correct me if I am wrong.

Prior to the double jeopardy law being changed, a man found not guilty of murder later admitted the offence. He was found guilty of perjury but could not face a murder charge under the then legislation.

In what way was the double jeopardy law a good thing in that particular instance?
