can't find a link, perhaps someone else can, but i am glad that this lunatic got life in prison and must serve at least 34 years. It could have rivalled 7/7 bombings in the capital. He's only young so a whole life inside gives him ample time to reflect on his heinous actions.

Sad that a young man can be so twisted by a disgusting religion into such hate.

GG thanks, i couldn't find it for some reason.

The 34 years IS NOT the minimum sentence it is his Tariff. A Tariff is just the minimum time he must serve before he can even start the process of appeal for release on parole. It normally takes 3 to 5 years to get from the initial parole application to a decision. Then a first decision is more likely to be negative than positive. If it is negative the entire appeal process goes back to square one,so another 3 to 5 years.
All in all, he can expect to be inside at least another 10 years after serving his tariff. Even then it is only a release on conditional licence, not full release. He can be recalled to prison for any breach of the conditions of his licence.

i am repeating what was said on the news, he must serve at least 34 years, but lets not quibble, he'll be an older and perhaps wiser individual on release, whenever that may be. It must take a deal of hatred to do this, and i wonder how many more are waiting in the wings, only time will tell.
/// Hassan arrived in the UK in a lorry after having spent time in the migrant camp in Calais known as the Jungle and he was referred to Surrey County Council's social services - a standard procedure for unaccompanied child asylum seekers. ///

He was an illegal and therefore should never have been considered for Asylum, he should have been sent back to the 'Jungle' with all the other 'wild animals'.

/// In a January 2016 immigration interview, Hassan told officials he had been in contact with the Islamic State group and had been "trained to kill". The trial also heard he blamed the UK for the death of his father in Iraq. ///

And he was still being considered for Asylum???????????

What are these officials playing at, unless they are doing their best to put all our lives at risk?

//he's only young...//

there would appear to be an element of doubt as to the age of this individual - see paragraph 16 in https://www.judiciary.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/r-vhassan-sentencing.pdf

although there's no exact proof, he was clearly not the child he claimed to be when he came to the UK...
aBBC called him a Surrey teenager. Lol.

That's not quite so, Eddie. Here's what the government says:

"The government will apply for parole on your behalf if you have a life or indeterminate sentence - you don’t need to do anything. You’ll be contacted:

- 3 years before your tariff runs out if you’re serving a sentence of 4 years or more.."
Utter scum who I believe will lonely get more radicalised in our pathetic jails, so I think a real whole life is the only answer for him not a s punishment, not as a deterrent but to protect the public.

In addition I would like to see those responsible for allowing him to stay in the country hauled before an inquiry.
This is one of those rare occassions when I am in complete agreement with AOG.
This young man confessed that he had been trained by Islamic State, so why was he being considered for asylum, being fostered, and free to commit a terrorist act? He should have been deported sharpish.
'the judge said: “You wanted to save your own skin and were not prepared for shahada [martyrdom].
((Criticizing his commitment??))
“You will have plenty of time to study the Qur’an in prison in the years to come. You should understand that the Qur’an is a book of peace, Islam is a religion of peace.
You have violated the Qur’an and Islam by your actions,//

Ah, NTDWI again.
Do you agree with Justice Haddon-Cave or think the wheels are coming off his wagon?
No, I don't agree with Justice Haddon-Cave. That's the sort of ignorance that allows the enemies of the west to walk freely among us. Three people died in France the other day for the same reason.
"You will have plenty of time to study the Qur’an in prison in the years to come. You should understand that the Qur’an is a book of peace, Islam is a religion of peace.

I do agree with that bit. Why not try another tactic and use their religion back at them. So long as the nutter is locked up I have not problem with such words. It just may make someone think again if it was published enough.
ymb, if you've read the Koran I can't see how you can agree with it.
Most religious books can be interpreted as one see fit. The Bible is pretty violent and controlling too, if you want it to be. Encouraging people to look to a more positive and inclusive view of it surely cant be knocked? (So long as the judges dont use it as an excuse for lenient sentencing)
ymb, the Koran can leave no one who’s read it in any doubt. Comparing it with the bible doesn’t work simply because adherents to the bible do not generally comply with its more unsavoury recommendations.
True, Naomi. Most Christians regard the OT as more historical than theological, written for the times. There are fundamentalist exceptions, of course.
I think Haddon Cave is around the bend. ;-(
Crazy name, crazy guy !!!!
