If the little fellow can't act correctly in social situations then he ought not be on 8 hour plane flights put others in hell. Sometimes parents need to accept there are things their darling child can't cope with.
Modern parenting. Don't you just love it.
poor child.....
Deary deary deary me.

I guess he had to get to Germany from New York, I wonder if he was the same on the first flight.
Its not clear if the child was suffering from any health issue. But if this is the sort of thing that he regularly does, than surely the parents could have obtained some kind of sedative before the flight ?
And a companion Hamster gets flushed down the toilet?

Yeah, hmmm.
I'm sure some parents label their children with various "disorders" to mask their own failings.

A little bit of discipline is what that child needs. Children routinely test boundaries and it would appear in his case there aren't any.
Funny you mention that Nom.
After 18 years of working with children, teachers aide, school bus operator, sports coach, etc. I found the worst behaved children came from the parents I had least respect for.
The only way to deal with this is noise cancelling headphones.

They work a treat.
A skelped erse is what was needed here
Not unusual. Children are absolutely revolting creatures.
Also you can just guarantee that (like every child who has ever walked the earth apparently) "they are lovely really".... sure.
Well when the plain took off they had wifi so why did he keep at it?

I might have been tempted to accidentally trip the little sheet up.

As Mikey says, if he is like this usually then a small sedative should have been given. A little nip of vodka to send him to sleep perhaps lol
Wonder if they are now banned from the carrier...I'd have lost it !
He should have been put on the naughty step - the one just outside the door.
I'd've been spitting feathers with annoyance over this - it is entirely unfair of the parents to have put the other passengers through this.

Even if the child has an illness that makes him mental, there are ways to manage things like this - the parents have utterly failed.

Trouble is there are so many parents who smile indulgently when their kid is being annoying because they think if the little darling isn't getting on their nerves then how can it possibly be getting on other people's nerves - simple, it's your kid, not mine. You may not find it annoying, but other people will.

I was always very conscious of my kids getting on other people's nerves, and therefore if, for example, they decided to kick-off in a shop, then I'd remove them. I appreciate you can't do that at 36,000 feet, but if does beg the question why the hell are they taking a kid who can't behave on an 8 hour flight?

From the video "calm down hunny" - I suspect that is the limit of the parents way to control the brat.
I have been wondering about the safety aspect of all this....how safe is it have a child running amok, up and down the aisles of a packed plane for 8 hours ?
lol Kromo....I remember that commercial !
I don’t think I would have been able to keep quiet. Allowing him to do as he liked didn’t stop the tantrum or the disturbance to other passengers so the mother may as well have come down heavy on him and made him sit in his seat. It’s likely he’d have screamed anyway but at least he wouldn’t have been climbing all over the place and running amok.

I have a friend who insists that her six year old, who has horrendous ‘meltdowns’ when he doesn’t get his way, suffers from an autistic syndrome not recognised by the NHS. She, like the mother in question, also allows the child to do as he pleases without reprimand and although he was fine before he went to school and during his first year there, he hasn’t been for over a year now. Why? Because he says ‘they won’t let me play with toys’. When I say ‘Whatever is wrong with him he needs to be told when he’s wrong’, she disagrees. Her life is a self-imposed nightmare.

Had the flight not been trans-Atlantic no doubt it would have been grounded and these people off-loaded. Coming in to New York must have been a great relief to passengers and crew alike.
