I'm agreeing with you, spath. I'm just admitting I would probably feel very differently if it was my own child.
And that is the first I've heard about them going off and getting drunk. They went for a meal, had some wine, and checked every half an hour or so on their children. I am not saying what they did was right but I am sick of people putting the worst possible light on them having a meal close by.

Nothing to say in response to my 11.26 and 11.30 posts spath?
no, but i think if it were my child i would go on searching.
A hoax? How old are you?
I see another Madeleine McCann thread has descended into personal opinion.
Quite ZM.

There was a thread a few months where somebody, in all seriousness, suggested the McCanns's had accidentally killed her by drugging her so they could go and have a drink.

Stupidity doesn't even come close enough to cover a comment like that.
spath, you have no kids so you cannot say whether or not you would spend another £750,000 if your chid was still missing, how can you POSSIBLY know how you'd feel if your child, your heart, was missing ??? And I agree with ladybirder.

spathiphyllum, //There are 00's of kids who go missing...//

But they’re not little tots.

//but after 11 years I wouldn't be willing to spend another 750,000 out of personal money on more private investigators when previous private investigators took them for a joy ride.//

Having no children yourself, you have no idea how you would feel and I sincerely hope you never find out. I can't think of a worse nightmare for any parent.
//I see another Madeleine McCann thread has descended into personal opinion.//

That's no surprise is it , especially given the title of the thread , which ask for opinions

The Madeleine case will always attract personal opinion - just like threads about immigrants , Trump , Brexit , Foxhunting etc etc
//I disagree. The members of the public have funded this search way above others//

Irrelevant. The public pay tax (in theory) in order to be protected by the police, just as they pay for trash collection or street lighting. This does not mean that the average member of the public understands the current situation of the case or if there is a specific reason for funding it that cannot be put all over the newspapers. Nor can they realistically be expected to.

//And yes, in a lot of cases, they are small children. //

No, they're not. Small children going missing and never found is fortunately a rarity.
