Seems like a sensible move especially as the initiative will be intelligence-led, coupled with the roll out of body-cams (for accountability).

It is, but as per usual the nay sayers come out with the idea that it will only be black and Asian affected.
I suppose it will all depend on whether results fit the pre-arranged outcome.
A proportional cross section mirroring the population in general.

Or else.

Yes, but the good news is - lives will be saved.

The bad news is - nobody will ever know how many lives will be saved.
seeing there were 80 deaths from knife crime last year and 4 killed by the New Year something has to be done. But the black and Asian community are against it, as they see it as those young people being picked on because of their colour.

//But the black and Asian community are against it//

That’s a bit of a generalisation. The experience I have amongst older black and Asian people is that they are broadly in favour of stop and search, but younger BAME people feel unfairly targeted (the ones who aren’t involved in any criminal activityJ.

The reason these proposals sound positive is the idea of intelligence-led operations, and the roll out of body-cams for accountability.

A positive move.

Actually, thinking about it - the success of the move can be measured. If the number of knife deaths can be seriously curtailed in 2018/2019, then Khan and the police can use this as a measure of success.
sp, those stopped and searched may be innocent, but some may be carrying a knife, will those face hard sentences for carrying one, as many seem to be teens.

Agreed.
if those doing the killings are teens, as i said will they face heavy sentences, or just carrying a knife, will Khan and the Police crack down hard as i heard on the news.
Question Author

Hopefully.
Until the courts/judges start handing out stiffer sentences, the crime rates will never come down.

Criminals, whether violent or other, just laugh at the courts these days, as they know they will probably only get a suspended sentence, or community work.

You only have to watch the police reality programmes on TV, to see that 90% of the offenders get off lightly, which the police, must get *** off with.
Since it is mainly a young black problem, it would seem to be a sensible idea to target mainly black youngsters.

/// The official figures, which examine the ethnicity of those accused of violent offences in London, suggest the majority of men held responsible by police for gun crimes, robberies and street crimes are black. ///
