Excellent idea, the Jews were there three thousand years ago, when it was founded by Solomon. In the meantime they have been persecuted badly by the Romans, despicably by the Muslims and horrendously by the Nazis, and they deserve their town back, and I hope other nations will do the right thing and install their embassies there too. Well done Donald - keep it...

Our government has said this morning that it won't move our embassy to Jerusalem.
No.
Sounds an unnecessary expense and invitation to ill feeling, to me.
Let's not be an early adopter.
No.
I have the feeling that playing 'Follow-my-leader' with DJT, jnr. will prove, ultimately, to have been a bad thing....
If a known mentally unbalanced local ran into a burning building and had previously said he would do it would you follow him?
not if they have a mind to be blown up.
Should we change our policy on everything that Trump promised in his election pledges?
Perhaps we could build a wall between Ireland and Northern Ireland; I think that would help peace as much as moving the Embassy to Jerusalem would.
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netnayahu said this morning,

"President Trump has tied himself for eternity to Jerusalem's history. His name will appear now with the other names connected to the magnificent history of Jerusalem and the Jewish nation. I would like to thank him, and I would like to thank the US Congress, who 22 years ago anchored this recognition [in law] until the President came and implemented it. I would like to take this opportunity to say that we are already holding talks with other countries, who will make a similar recognition. I have no doubt that as soon as the US Embassy moves to Jerusalem, and even before then, many other embassies will also move to Jerusalem. It's time."

I wonder if he’s crossing his fingers and holding his breath?
Foolish in the extreme. Just gives the Muslims another excuse for terror (as if they needed one).

Trump wasn't the only President to promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem in their election pledges, but he is the only one to honour this election pledge?

Why should we continue to Kow-Tow to these Muslims, just in case the carry out yet more terrorist attacks on us?

They will carry them out no matter, it is embedded in their mind set.
Khandro, history not your strong point?
Not sure the cost of moving it is worth it at present.

AOG, you raise an interesting point. The liberal left, certainly on here, seem to thing giving in to terrorism and violence, appeasing the aggressor is the way forward. They seem to thing that because they give in then the violence will stop. It wont of course because once you give in the demands just get more. (And I am not just referring to this articular issue)
'According to the Bible, King David conquered the city of Jerusalem from the Jebusites and established it as the capital of the united kingdom of Israel, and his son, King Solomon, commissioned the building of the First Temple.'

Christ was buried there (maybe?) and what claim the late-coming Muslims have, I don't really know. They appeared to think the Jews shouldn't be there so they overran it, but Mohammad, being illiterate, wasn't very strong on history.

Is that not correct naomi?
One day maybe, but the point here is that the status of Jerusalem is contested as part of the so-called ME peace process. For the US seemingly to take sides here at this time is not really very helpful.
Although of course if everyone jumped at once (the UK doing it off its own bat would make matters worse) it might not matter but that is not going to happen.

Jerusalem has existed at for least 3000 years longer than Islam, how have they got any claim?
TTT, Jerusalem was the capital of Palestine before the creation of Israel in 1948 when it became part of that country.
Khandro, //Is that not correct naomi? //

//the Jews were there three thousand years ago, when it was founded by Solomon.//

^That isn't - as your subsequent post demonstrates.

danny: "TTT, Jerusalem was the capital of Palestine before the creation of Israel in 1948 when it became part of that country." - oh dear, Israel, originally, has existed from approx 1100BC. Did they do history in your academy for the sons of the gentry?
