Can't understand why anyone's complaining. After Jim told me I’d ‘get a slap’ for referring to a transgender person as ‘he’ rather than ‘she’, I rather assumed that violence is acceptable within that community.

That is just bananas. The world is going mad. Potentially it's going to enshrined in law that people can self-indentify their gender!
