Speaking to BBC Emma Barnett, the former Labour leadership contender said: “It’s the greatest giveaway of political power that a country has voluntarily ever done.”

surely we did that when we joined the EEC.
why is he popping his head above the parapet now i wonder, what's the agenda, thought his political day was done.
Hmm.

At the end of the day what is it about 'world politics' that we have to be at the front of?

He's playing the long game. He knows Corbyn can't cut the mustard. Don't be at all surprised if he packs his current job in, swiftly followed by a snap by-election in a rock-solid Labour seat. He will then be well-placed to stand for the leadership.
jack
surely not, corbyn doesn't look like he's going anywhere, any day soon.

let's hope he's as good as his one and other eh!
Corbyn is already 68. By the time of the next election he will be 73. Age alone will take its toll, if nothing else does.
I take his point that having no voice at the EU loses a mite of power, but since any individual country has miniscle ability to influence there, it is nothing worth mentioning.

The other side of the coin is that the EU dictates to all it's members, and freeing oneself from that is a massive return of power.

Furthermore the act trashes no history. That is utter drivel. However it does reverse the errors made over the last few decades where politicians felt it ok to give sovereignty away at every new EU treaty.

It seems to me that the guy had lost grip on reality. Probably best not to encourage him by giving him a media platform on which to embarrass himself.
I'm right of centre, always have been (either right of centre or left of centre is the best place to be), but I always quite liked him.

Significantly better than his brother, and more sensible than the car crash of Corbyn and McDonnell (and the court jester Abbott), if we had to have a Labour government, and obviously nobody who wants to keep more of their earnings and wants a decent economy would, of course, but if we did have to have a proper Labour government, I think we could do worse than Milliband Sr being PM.
Blokes a right berk if you ask me.
“It’s the greatest giveaway of political power that a country has voluntarily ever done.”

Nope, don't understand that statement.
I think he means the referendum was giving away power from parliament to the people. Nothing to do with the EU.
// By the time of the next election he will be 73. Age alone will take its toll, if nothing else does. //
HeHe Jackdaw, plus he has been "close" to Rustle Abbott for most of those years. Gotta age a bloke surely?
How dare they ZM, everyone suspected Parliament is only there for themselves. So now Millipede has confirmed it?
That’s not quite what I said. But it’s what I expected either you or Tora would have said.
Well he does now anyway. :))
