I only just heard about this yesterday from a volunteer who has relatives over there...

I suspect all the hurricane coverage has put this news in the shade.

Well, it's not really "news"...they've been going for several weeks!
Frightening!
I feel for the people and the wildlife.

Erm...it was news to me.
Maybe we need an "old news" topic for those who know all about it already...
Some parts of the world are having a tough time right now. We in the UK should count our lucky stars.
pasta..you suggested that the hurricane coverage was responsible for the lack of coverage of the Canadian fires "news". I was pointing out that the Canadian fires were covered when they were news.....end of July, early August.
I always think about the poor wildlife in cases like this, nobody there to help them.
Indeed, HereIam, a lot of poor stray dogs and cats in these places.
I remember a poor dog had been left and tied up during the recent floods and hurricanes in USA and it was just sat there as the water rose around it - some people are just vile.
If it was the one reported in the DM it was rescued hereIam.
I too think of the poor animals running round in circles trying to escape the wildfires and the tiny creatures with no chance of escape.
Yes it was rescued lb thank God, but seeing it's little patient face just sat there cracked me up ... I do of course feel for people affected by these horrible forces of nature, but the animals need consideration too, don't they, as they cannot cope alone.
