I heard Charlie's Mum being interviewed on the Today Programme this morning and she made a very powerful argument to allow her son to travel to the US for treatment.

I only know what I have read, but surely its worth giving his little lad another chance ?

MODs...please erase this thread in favour of Mintys please !
even the US medics have said that their treatment will not help though....very very sad..

It's a tough one, the Medics say he is suffering, the Parents say he is not, I don't know what qualifications the Parents have, I may have missed something. I have read somewhere that if he survives he will never be capable of living a normal life, a very hard decision to make either way. It does sound as if they (Parents) are now getting some more help.
I wish them Luck and do understand why they're doing it.
If I trust the doctors, another chance to what ? Survive so mentally damaged and lacking senses that he endures an existence but hardly any quality of life, in order to keep those in emotional turmoil to have him for longer ? I think the humane thing is to let him go.
I have every sympathy with the parents and of course they want their child to live. But ... what sort of life? I understand he is unable to hear, see, swallow and is brain damaged. The parents say he is not in pain - I suspect that is because he is on painkillers. It's a very difficult decision for everyone and not one I would like to have to make, but I think it is cruel to keep him alive like that.
There are two identical threads on this, I have just answered on the other one

Is it possible for the 2 to be combined?
Question Author
Eddie....I agree....either erase this one or find some way of combining the two threads.
We've had double threads before. Not ideal, but I don't believe worth changing.
