Remembering that May was/is a Remoaner did she trash the election kowing uncertainty would scupper the Brexit 'negotiations'?

I honestly cant think of another reason for such a poor campaign - orchestrated by her.

Now we have a cabinet of Remoaners. I am suspecting we will end up worse off, doing what Corbyn wants i.e. paying bucket loads but having no seat at the EU.

I don't believe that for one moment, she just ran a very bad campaign and people saw right through the lies and half truths!

But Labour had just as many, if not more, lies and half truths. There is no way on earth they could have done what they claimed they would do.

"Have you ever seen so many mugs in the Cabinet Room?"
I, too, can't believe that for a moment. The reason that all this has collapsed onto May and the Tory Party, is their all because of their arrogance and greed....nothing more.
No, I don't think this was her intention at all.

YMB, //But Labour had just as many, if not more, lies and half truths.//

Just shows how gullible people are.
YMB...all politicians lie once in a while. But on this occasion, enough people chose to disbelieve May, and that is 100% her fault.

I suggested this days ago.

Why should any sensible PM risk losing their majority by calling an election so soon?

Not only that but releasing a referendum full of cuts liable to annoy their supporters, when the opposition announces theirs full of popular give aways, with no idea whatsoever of how to pay
for them.

I personally think it was set up months ago.
No I think it was much more simple , than that .

She was riding so high in the polls that she and her advisers thought it would be a walk in the park and that they would annihilate the Labour party ; without having to expend much energy and effort .
Added to that not much thought was given to the manifesto and what was put in it , severely alienating a lot of the electorate , who may have otherwise naturally voted for the party .

Put simply she took an opportunity to overtake , pulled out , and met a 38 tonner coming in the opposite direction
Well said Baz !

AOG....I think you credit May with more wit and cunning then she deserves.

But do you really think that the rest of the Tory Party would have allowed her to press ahead with this high risk strategy, for the reason that you gave ?

The notion is preposterous.
Mikey, //But on this occasion, enough people chose to disbelieve May//

I don't think people disbelieved her, more a case of falling for Corbyn's impossible promises, I'd say.

/// people saw right through the lies and half truths! ///

Where did she lie that would benefit people, if all the cuts she promised to implement had been lies, nobody would have been worried enough not to vote for her.

It is only a tragedy that those who put their crosses in Labour's boxes couldn't see through Labour's lies.
The campaign was orchestrated by her two rubbish advisers who have now resigned.
Mrs May is quite rightly being blamed for the parlous state that her Government is in at the moment. but does she deserve all the blame ? The Tory Party is more than one hapless woman....what about all the others alongside her, that carried regardless?
No, I think she was a half hearted remainer because she was being loyal to Cameron but not really a remainer. I doubt she'd have inflicted this on herself if she could have avoided it. Let's face it, terrible campaign, taking people for granted and alienating the grey vote. Massive own goals.
Most MPs and all Parties ( with the exception of UKIP ) were remainers. Both Labour and the Tories had a policy to remain.
I think too many people thought all these xenophobic anti migration bigots from UKIP would vote for the Conservatives ... but no ... Labour managed to woo a great number of these xenopho .... er reformed characters.

Exactly Mickey, and now it seems they will have their own way and ignore the will of the people.
It was sheer arrogance that did it !
//Where did she lie that would benefit people.../

She promised she could provide strong and stable leadership, which she clearly can't :)
Stop making excuses for a PM who was just not good enough for the job .
