It is becoming more and more clearer that the EU is basically Germany ruling Europe, achieving through stealth what they failed to do with two world wars. Here is Merkel threatening us yet again to add more with to it.

I think we have seen German like this before.

Oh please !!!!
I honestly don't think Germany wants to take over Europe for expansionist reasons.

I think they feel it their duty, because of their past, to make it safe and at peace.

Just because we don't like the way the EU works shouldn't mean that Germany actually want to take over the world sort of thing.

We are still apologising around the world for colonialism. Perhaps Germany is still apologising for two world wars in the only way they know how.

No, you are too quick to jump down peoples throats without reading posts correctly. This is not the first time you have done it.

I have in my hand a piece of paper.....
You're hilarious khandro; Merkel 'reformed communist' (in actual fact member of the communist youth movement which you really had to be to get anywhere in the DDR)
= bad cop
Putin unreconstructed E German KGB/Stasi operative still using the tools of his trade = 'good cop'
ichi; You should engage your brain before operating your keyboard, I didn't say she was a 'reformed communist', I said she a member of the former communist party. She was brought up in the dire communist ethos of the so-called German democratic system where you said as little as possible and spied on everyone else. Did you ever visit that charming place? I did, it was impossible to read books or periodicals which were not vetted by the Party, no foreign television or films without censorship, cars made out of cardboard, rationing and crap products all round, etc. etc.
She walked straight out of that world into front-rank western European politics, - amazing act.
scooping at 10.01 - hilarious .....
"she is a former communist from the DDR"

Ahem, I'm struggling to see the difference khandro, between "reformed communist" and "former communist". Presumably you don't approve of communism as neither do I.
The EU is a doubtful experiment, with 27 disparate "Nations" elbowing in a sack. The vastly differing levels of wealth and culture work ok at a simple commercial level, as was originally intended, but anything else is pie in the sky. The Euro is doomed because those poorer nations cannot possibly keep up with the relatively few wealthy ones.
As for Mrs Merkel and all the other unfortunates from behind the Iron Curtain, until 1990 they were taught from birth that profit was a dirty word and were given full "employment" by the State, resulting in a complete ignorance of efficiency in anything remotely commercial. (hence the cardboard cars) The newly "liberated" generation leapt straight into Facebook, so they think the world revolves around the Kardashians and McDonalds...as for the proposed EU army - do people really expect British solders to serve with those who as recently as 1992 were committing genocide 1940 style in Bosnia etc.?
she likes free movement and i assume that means migrants from africa and asia as well illegal or otherwise, share the burden she created in europe with her open door policy...her policy! that was never debated with other eu countries, just a shut up and drink your milk.
