well this is commonplace
and I think has to be factored in when you are being 'selfless'

from the defence point of view
you have to be able to question the witness
because if you cant ( inside court or a work disciplinary) it readily turns into a liars paradise.

I think things are better now with decent recorders and viddie

If their names were revealed would the witnesses be exposed to physical danger?
Probably not, eh, Peter?
And would that matter anyway? Probably not, eh, Peter?
If you are happy with less people coming forward in the future then it is a victory for 'fair and open' justice.
