I think the trend should be nipped in the bud. Apart from anything else, the painted face is a good disguise for people to hide behind while carrying out more serious assaults.
Might not be 'harmless' to people who suffer from Caulrophobia
Remember, if you ever get attacked by a mob of creepy clowns, always go for the juggler.

There are certainly quite a few children who are terrified at the prospect of being confronted by clowns and stories of reported sightings do spread rapidly. I am aware of one child who was in a terrible state after seeing one
not harmless fun when they are carrying big knives .

I think this has quite sinister overtones. I mean who in their right mind thinks it would be funny to jump out at a lone female in park at night or at kids with a "fake machete".

There's a world of difference between hiding behind the door and making your partner jump (although he damn nearly got a slap for that one) and hiding in bushes dressed like a twit scaring the beejeezus out of complete strangers.
There was a clown phase in Northampton a few years back. This one was carrying weapons though (pretend or not)
I take it this is to do with Hallowe'en or pretending to be?
I'm not sure that it is Patsy. It started in the US in the summer and seems to have kicked off here over the last couple of weeks. Stupid people following stupidly pointless trends.

It's kids doing it. The craze may become less popular when one of them attempts to scare the wrong person and gets a good kicking.
