Its often been said by all the Trump lovers here on AB, that Trump has enormous popular support in America.

Well, according to this BBC link, that may not be true after all. These are died-in-the-wool Republicans and they can't stand the sight of Trump !

Zacs...far be it for me to be nice to Mr Farage but he is reasonability personified compared to Trump !
Mikey, // The only difference is it has now become acceptable to be racist, bigoted, etc, etc.//

That’s probably because for the past umpteen years anyone who has expressed genuine concerns has been immediately labelled racist or bigoted, and now they’re sick of it, because they aren’t racist or bigoted – they are genuinely concerned. It’s high time they were allowed their say instead of being smothered by the politically correct at the merest hint of dissent. People have become afraid to open their mouths – and that isn’t right.

Naomi....not sure who you are referring to by the term "people"

In the case of Trump, he has shown, live on nationwide TV, that he is a racist, as bigot, a sexist and a boor.

Trump can't possibly be a sit-on-the-fence issue, so I am not sure why you are consistently declining to condemn him.
Mikey, //not sure who you are referring to by the term "people"//

Sorry, I should have been more explicit. The many who are afraid to speak for fear of being branded racist or bigoted.

//I am not sure why you are consistently declining to condemn him.//

Firstly much of what he’s saying is what those who are afraid to speak for fear of being branded racist or bigoted (see what I did there?) want to hear, and secondly I don’t like bandwagons designed solely to demonise people with whom it is not politically correct to agree.
Naomi, I agree that he is the mouthpiece of those who dare not speak for fear of being labelled (I called them the disenfranchised in an earlier post) but the danger is that these political mouthpieces are being popularised via this one dimension of their political acumen. People are ignoring their other political stances, some of which are extreme and some of which are non existent or at least very scant.
Donald Trump apparently tweeted a call to "boycott all Apple products until ...they give cellphone info to authorities regarding radical islamist terror"

... from his iPhone (!)
He makes George dubbya seem like an Oxbridge Don.
zacs, //People are ignoring their other political stances, some of which are extreme and some of which are non existent or at least very scant. //

Indeed, but that surely highlights the areas that cause many people the most concern - concerns they see as having been consistently ignored, and that are still being ignored, by other politicians.
It does, but electing a president who has such an appalling record of gaffs and who's political acumen is so narrow is surely a big mistake?
zacs, Probably. His popularity appears to emanate from his willingness to acknowledge and to do something about problems that other politicians are failing to address. Perhaps they need to get their act together and listen to the electorate.
Perhaps people should realise that democracy is a slow process not a knee jerk reaction.
Not with you. This is democracy.
People are looking for instant solutions to situations where there are non. The general populace have very little idea of the political process by which terrorists are defeated and the gearwheels of counter terrorism need to mesh in perfect synchronisation to defeat such an enemy. Trump, Robinson, Farage and the like appeal to people's desire for politicians and the armed forces to be seen to be doing something. Whether that something is right or wrong.
If it is Trump vs Sanders, I'm backing Bloomberg to throw his hat in as an Independent - and he may well sweep into the White House - at least he isn't as cuckoo as the other two. The others on the voting chad will be non-relevant as usual....Brits often think that the poll is a two-horse run-off - it ain't!

I wonder if the bookies will give me a price on Bloomberg?
//People are looking for instant solutions //

That applies across the board - not just to those who support the people you've mentioned.
I consider myself to be part of the 'board' to which you refer and I don't believe in instant solutions...and I don't think I'm the only one.
zacs, there are voters of every persuasion who think their ‘man’ will bring instant solutions. That mentality is not restricted solely to people who support those public figures who you, personally, don’t happen like.
Donald Trump makes me think of Emperor Claudius, he appeared clumsy and was a figure of fun before becoming emperor, and then he turned out to be very good at it, did good deeds and was loved by his subjects, - who knows?
Naomi, neither is it restricted solely to people who support those public figures who you, personally, Happen to support.
