Its often been said by all the Trump lovers here on AB, that Trump has enormous popular support in America.

Well, according to this BBC link, that may not be true after all. These are died-in-the-wool Republicans and they can't stand the sight of Trump !

Of course Sqad ! But elections are being increasingly won and lost these days, by the floating voter.

It was interesting in the BBC link, where one life-long Republican voter said that given the choice between voting for Trump and voting, for the first time, for the Democrats, he would vote Democrat.

And that was the point of me raising this thread......if Trump can pee off lifelong Republican voters, how the hell can he expect to win over floating voters, let alone Democrat voters ?

As a rule, they don't have too many landslide Elections in the States....there have been very few 1979's or 1997's in recent years. So both Parties are looking for those floating voters.
Indeed mikey, .........
It's all spin, the salient fact here is that the BBC itself which is anti-Donald Trump. Whenever there is a policy shift in a party, some previous voters for that party are bound to 'leave' (there hasn't been a vote yet!) But the change in direction might bring in a much larger amount of new voters.

Khandro...shooting the messenger are we ? Its all the BBC's fault !

Really ?

Look at the link again....Lyn Bennett wasn't reading from a script provided by Broadcasting House. It was her own views that she was giving. Are you suggesting that the BBC should ignore people who don't like Trump and only speak to people that do ?

Doesn't sound very balanced to me !

Perhaps they will give equal air time to both factions...........Just like they do in our political forums.
Mikey, You're convinced he has no hope of winning so why do you care who's thinking - or spinning - what?

Togo...the Beeb has given Trump and his rantings loads of space over the last few months. You can hardly turn the radio or TV on without him being there.

Prepare yourself for a shock Naomi !

Politics is one of my interests !
Mikey, it seems to me that if you think he has no chance, there's nothing to be interested in.
OK mikey, I watched it again and it is cringe-makingly biased reporting. This reporter has a clear agenda, reporters are there to 'report the facts' which means getting differing opinions and presenting them to their audience.
No decent editor would broadcast such a report if s/he too wasn't also biased.
"I want the best for Britain as well, as almost everybody does. "

but you openely say your happy for us to stay in and be swallowed up by the eussr empire and the eventual demise of our country, losing our sovereignty, our ability to rule ourselves, our borders etc etc...hardly wanting the best is it ?

Then afterwards 'airing' a 'comment'.
^^ wrong thread bazwillrun ?
Wasn't

Tony ....Jeb Bush has also quit...I wonder where his votes will go ?
Getting back to the OP.....of course lifelong republicans are Being turned off. Trump isn't about the old conservative republican values, he's seen as a breath of fresh air which middle America thinks it is ready for.
Question Author
Zacs....I would argue with the word fresh !

It seems to me, as it did to the lady in the link, that there nothing fresh at all about Trump...its the same old racist, bigoted, etc, etc, as it always was.

The only difference is it has now become acceptable to be racist, bigoted, etc, etc.
Racism and bigotry against an enemy such as ISIS is just what middle American republicans (and democrats) want right now. Well....they think they do. The parallels to UKIP and Pegida in this country are very evident. He's telling the disenchanted what they want to hear, with very little idea how to deliver it or what the consequences may be.
Question Author
Zacs....Trump also said that he was going to "stop the internet" and that he was going to have a word with his mate Bill Gates !

Completely potty !
