Its an act of defiance. Especially in light of what they (CH) have been through.
Question Author
So you'd be happy seeing that if one of your loved ones was a victim?
I have no idea whether I would see it as, in some small way, revenge or at least defiance, or very insulting. You'll probably find a mixture of responses.
I agree with Zacs. From the interviews I've seen they are all determined that ISIS won't win by instilling fear and making them scared to go out. To me a message that they won't be broken.
We've puzzled over the colloqialisms a bit, but 'no' is the eventual answer. This is the classic French response and French families will understand and respond in kind. It is defiance and support of the French way of life.

Defiance can be projected without portraying an image of a bullet ridden person

An image of a hand (coloured with the French flag) giving the finger would have been better
But CH is a satirical magazine. Your suggestion is not satire, just provocation, showing that your angry, rather than defiant.
I don't find it particularly insensitive given Charlie Hebdo's style - not my taste but can see the message clearly.
Question Author
But it's Charlie Hebdo's 'style' which caused/resulted in the deaths of it's employees
well but they knew the style and chose to work there....I am absolutely not saying that excuses the attack but Charlie is Charlie and will behave like Charlie.
Their point exactly.
That was to Joe.
Islamist vermin caused the death of CH workers. Don't make excuses for them.
"But it's Charlie Hebdo's 'style' which caused/resulted in the deaths of it's employees "

So are you suggesting that someone else who doesn't get the joke is going to shoot them all again?
The Daily Mail should not be reprinting this: it will just fall victim to cultural misunderstanding. As your comments prove
Question Author
'So are you suggesting that someone else who doesn't get the joke is going to shoot them all again?'

Are you saying that won't happen for certain?
Joe, you're not getting their stance. They have done it as a syrirical way of saying 'up yours' to ISIS 'we will not be bowed down by your threats and actions, we will carry on despite your best efforts'.
Question Author
So in other words 'keep murdering our citizens and we'll still laugh at you'
Well, not exactly. More like 'keep murdering our citizens (and colleagues) but we will carry on as normal'.
Mocking Hitler helped us through World War II in spite of our suffering at the hands of his evil henchmen and their followers.

Right to the end people would sing :-

Hitler has only got one ball
Goering has two, but very small
Himmler
Has something similar
But poor old Goebbels had no balls at all.
