Today, I came across the Washington Times online website. The home page was headlined, 'Special Report on the Paris Terror Attack'.

What I then found weird was the inclusion of the following two articles:

The first was, 'Bang for your Buck - Best Hand Guns under 500 dollars'.

The second one was headed, 'Top 10 Hand Guns in the U.S.'

Don't you think to include such articles at a time like this is rather insensitive?

What would readers of any UK journal think if they saw similar articles in their newspaper, at any time of the year?

We in the UK wouldn't see any articles about favourite/best handguns. It's as simple as that. Americans might well think (say) that if the theatre goers had been armed they could have defended themselves against the terrorists. Daft as that sounds, it wouldn't really surprise me.

I think it was Donald Trump who said something similar

I suppose American's are so used to seeing them they'd barely notice.

I think I would be inclined to order one immediately now buddy. Rather be shooting back in the situation the poor people, who were victims, found themselves.
To Americans, the sale of guns is just a commodity like washing machines and TVs here. It is so ingrained in their society, that it seems perfectly normal to them. Links which you have high-lighted are usually advertising and are usually triggered (no pun intended) by keywords in the article. The unfortunate linking is done automatically by computers designed to generate advertising income.
Not in the US. Those articles would have been planned and ready a while ago. I doubt anyone noticed. No doubt there have been articles for things that look odd next to some stories in British papers.
Tora,

It happens in UK based web news sites and Private Eye magazine records them in its 'Malgorithms' column described thus:
An occasional column devoted to excellence contextual advertising
We would never see similar adverts over here, as we have a much more common sense attitude to guns.

America is obsessed with guns, and no matter how many innocent people are slaughtered each year by mad Americans with firearms, the general population seems unable and/or unwilling to act with common sense.
and no matter how many innocent people are slaughtered each year by mad Americans with firearms,

mikey, is there a reason you often castigate Americans for slaughtering innocents yet find it almost impossible to aim the same diatribe at mad Muslims?
Talbot...I have made it quite clear, many times in the past, that I have never condoned terrorist actions by any group, including Muslims, so I am at a total loss to understand why you and others continue to make these unfounded accusations.

Please show me any post that I have made where I have supported Muslim terrorism. In effect, put up or shut up.
//put up or shut up. //

Tut tut!
Shut up is exactly what you do mikey when threads about the attitude of many Muslims are on the go.

Could you please give your views on my thread below.

Tut tut to you Naomi ! I have issued a challenge...whether Talbot responds is entirely up to him.
Talbot...answer my question. Show me a post that I have made that supports Muslim terrorism.
Just an observation, Mikey, to one who frequently delights in loftily preaching the benefits of civilised discussion. Call it a nudge.
It's now what you say, it is what you don't say, mikey.
Mikey...you don't slate Muslims like you slate Americans.
*not*

Indeed you hide from it and don't debate (the same accusation issued by Answerprancer about bazwillrun)
