lol, well I don't get a free licence yet but when I do, I will have a single finger response to that suggestion!
By the time I am eligble I will be either Blind,Deaf or Dead or a combination thereof. :-)
I wonder how much James Heath 'earns' in a year.

Perhaps some of their over paid presenters etc, would care to accept a reduction in their salaries?
Just cut back on hundreds of anchormen/women sent all over the world to record one event.
As I don't expect the cinemas and theatres I visit to entertain me for nothing I'll happily continue to pay for my licence.
I agree with woofgang. They waste an awful lot of money on silly programs. That is what they should be cutting out.
When they get rid of the TV licence system then I'm sure the problem will disappear.
In a word NO.
Blair's Labour Governments get loads of stick, but this Election bribe seems enduringly popular. Couldn't see any justification for it 14 years ago, and still can't.
Now that the Government aren't paying it from direct taxation probably means the licence will have to increase to recover the lost revenue.
won't decriminalisation make the fee unenforceable?
Couldn't agree more with AOG. Too many overpaid celebrities who are held in far higher regard than they should be....
Did I hear they sent used over 300 people just to broadcast the Glastonbury festival??
I would give mine up if they stop broadcasting rubbish programmes and overpaying no talent "celebrities"
No volunteer here. It's free in France as well. The BBC wastes loads of money by shipping people all over the world at a minute's notice instead of using their representatives on the ground, wherever it is. The number of times a story starts with a report by a humbler figure and then next time there is a big name out there is ridiculous.

The salaries also need drastic pruning.
Why on earth should I pay my TV Licence when the whole world can watch it free? The BBC should try living in the real world. Scale the organisation down and charge subscriptions for those who actually watch it. Did you know that the amount of people they are sending to cover the LIBDUMS Conference will outnumber the attendees something like 3-1
