I cant quite believe that someone would be so stupid as to name where they worked in an interview claiming to get f**** mortal. Is this really the standard of people that NHS Tayside employ. I hope she loses her job but I doubt it people in that organisation seem to have a job for life. That is my local health board. I think she is so thick she is supposed to be a mental health nurse I certainly would not want someone like that looking after me. Where are the standards.

Perhaps if all the misogynists could form an orderly queue to respond to this post.......

It's not big and it's not clever to have the attitude she displays but if she is competent at her job, being a stupid teenager is not really sufficient reason for her to lose it.
Oh dear. You really want her to lose her job?

Does she turn up at work off her head then, she's on holiday, is she not entitled to let her hair down. My Wife of 28 years is an NHS Professional, some of the parties I've been to with her have been real eye-openers, but the day after everyone of them has been on duty and working in a professional manner.
Just because you appear to have no fun in your life don't put down those that do!
She wasn't representing NHS Tayside, she was on holiday.

She was somewhat naive to speak to the journalist but that doesn't mean she should lose her job.
I don't think she can be sacked for getting 'mortal' whilst on holiday, in her own time. There must be lots of nurses amongst the throng in Magaluf wanting to get 'mortal' ( what a strange word).

Though I do despair when seeing young girls laying in the gutter, drunk on these holiday islands.
I can't get worked up about this - ahem - "story" at all. Why is it even being put out as a story anyway? "Teenager goes on holiday and gets drunk". Er... okay.... AND??? And as for "is this the standard of staff NHS Tayside employ" - we don't know how good or bad she is at her job, and whatever the answer to that is, it doesn't mean Tayside check for some required level of hedonism before hiring!
I bet that she was nursing an immortal hangover the following morning.
very good, stuey. ;)
Is 'mortal' another word for drunk?
Urban dictionary

mortal
To be very, very drunk. Contrary to the guy before me, the word 'mortal' is also used in the North-East of England (ie: Newcastle and Sunderland)
Last night, I was proper mortal!!!!
"Is 'mortal' another word for drunk?"

It's more the laying in the gutter covered in puke kind of drunk
And don't forget it's not just young nurses from Scotland getting drunk in these places. Its lads and lasses from all over and all ages going over the top, if they work hard you can't blame them for playing hard when they can. I know when I was young single and on holiday after a few months on the coal face,I was there to party and I didn't give jack *** about what other people thought
She is a nurse in your health area?
If you whinge to the health workers the way you do on Answer bank I am not in the slightest surprised that the girl is hitting the drink.
And you want her sacked?
Pathetic!
She can still get "mortal" as long as she doesn't do it in an obnoxious and anti-social way.
Maybe she has misunderstood...
representing an organisation? Do you think the hospital has sent her as a delegate to a mortality conference or something? If you demand a teetotal certificate from every health professional who treats you, you may be queuing for a while.

She's entitled to go on a holiday where she likes and drink what she likes. If she does something illegal, it sounds as though the local authorities are prepared to deal with her.
It's just figures of speech though. Just because someone says they're going on the session doesn't mean they won't remember going home at the end of the night.
christ it is a bit gormless to name your employer ....

No the health workers dont have security of tenure

and bringing your employer into disrepute WOULD be grounds for firing someone (after the disciplinary etc )

as an employer I would be keen for a public display of " I have been a silly silly girl .... " rather than firing her - a bit like the Stripper of Kinabalu

Oh, talking about that one - the stripper of kinabalu
when she was pouring ashes over her sackcloth
and confessing her sins loudly on tee vee

what I missed was a Sun Hack shouting - can you slip your top off for us, love.....or what a pair of whoppers......
Come on Peter, you are not that naive! Journalists have a knack of getting their quotes through endearing themselves to the interviewee and having gained their name, DOB, employer and home town can do their hatchet job based on one throwaway comment.
She is 19 -she can't be working as a qualified nurse. Where does it say anywhere she is a nurse -it says she's a health worker -she could be an auxiliary or a cleaner even -so what -are people not allowed to enjoy themselves? Some of the wilder parties I've been to have involved members of the Emergency services -they have such a difficult job they like to let their hare down once in a while. Bet Florence Nightingale had a sip of dry sherry once in a while ;-)
"hair" lol!
