If you personally were heavily in debt, would you increase the amount you gave to charity?

The sensible answer would be 'no' then why does this country continue to do so?

No problem surely. Just tell the EU what they can do with this target.
Makes me sick, aog.
Our champagne socialists will be along to justify it no doubt.
They make me sick as well.
Useful middle-class fools.
If Camoron gets back in and has to give us a referendum he'll, doubtless, get back a fraction of these recent increases & claim it's 'job done'.
It's never been put better than; overseas aid is taking from the poor of a rich country and giving it to the rich of a poor country.

More Mercs for the gangstas!
It isn't rocket science.

Our aid budget is pegged to 0.7% of the country's GDP.

The black economy, drugs prostitution is now included in GDP.

So Our GDP is higher so our aid is higher.

Not sure why this is News to anyone, we have known about this for 3 years

that isn't rocket science either Gromit - there's an election in less that 6 weeks......
As I've said before, it is the lubricant in the international relations machine.
The 0.7% of GDP Overseas Aid is now enshrined into law.

Whoever wins the election, even if it were Farage, has to meet the target and pay the money.

A Conservative co-sponsored the Bill.
But would the news possibly influence voters to choose parties who either promise a referendum or are openly anti Europe?

... or change the law.
Don't you see? It's all about power. "They" give to "Help" and this isn't without the obvious interest they want back on their loan.

A few years down the line it's "Have you got our money?" "No?" "Okay then, we need a favour...

We'd like to borrow a few of your scientists for a project we're doing.

We'd like to build a secret experimental facility/Military zone.

We'd like to conducted a "SAFE" secret psychology social experiment on your peoples emotions ...an experiment organised by the social media/media without their knowledge.

"No?" Well sorry we can't give you that loan.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

It's all about maintaining the supreme hierarchy at the top of the matrix system and controlling the countries, it's goverments, scientists and the sheep at the bottom.

Do a little research on the "Matrix system" and you will be surprised at what you uncover but be careful there's a lot of illusion and misdirection entangled in the web of truth to blind the awake from the reality of this system.
^^ Wow!
Despite pumping in billions of taxpayer's money into Africa since WWII, the poor there have never been poorer;

What is not made clear in the article (and, judging by some of the comments) is not understood by many, is that the target of 0.7% is not set by the EU, but by the UK government, because this year they voluntarily signed into law a commitment suggested by the UN (in 1970).
The is absolutely nothing to stop them changing the law - it's not required by the EU.
Someones going to get rich.
Ah but what is down to the EU according to the article is the change to the way national income is measured. And thus all knock on effects.
