Is there any better sentence than that to make you automatically sigh and shake your head, because you know what's coming up next?

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/17/arrigo-sacchi-no-racist-too-many-blacks-youth-teams

[i]The former Italy manager Arrigo Sacchi has denied being racist after he was quoted as saying there are “too many black players” at youth level in Italy – evidence that the nation is now “without dignity or pride”.[i]

Is this the very definition of racism?

If the players are good enough, then what's the problem if they are black?

I don't think there is a problem with their skin colour. Maybe he was saying that them honkeys are just too lazy and need to get up off their rear ?
I have loads of black mates!!!

Just checked in the dictionary and no, it's not the very definition of racism.
///I always coached teams with different colours and I bought many, both at Milan and at Madrid.///

The first time Romans bought blacks was in the slave market so they always, it would seem through history, be expected to everything for the Italians. This man talks as though people are commodities!!! I don't believe he is deliberately racist but rather clumsy in the way he expresses himself.

Tell me sp, would a true racist pick any black players to play for his team?

I have been a big football fan since I was 8 years old, went to most matches home and away with free passes (my Uncle was Dennis Violet) as possible.

The last 10 years I have lost interest and don't even bother to watch on TV because of the large influx of foreign players.
would a real racist hire black slaves?

Good grief............

If Ruud Gullit or Frank Rijkaard come out and say they think he is racist then I will take it as said, at the minute we only have the *some* of the words he said to go by.

Why was this missed out?

'“Italian football is now without dignity or pride because it has too many foreigners playing in the youth teams,”

That is a sentiment I would share about English football.
I can't say what I think of the quote from the manager without it being a string of expletives.

What I will say is well done to all the 'too many black players' for having ambition and also I wonder if he would be as vocal if he was on an operating table with mainly 'black' medical staff. I doubt he would say 'too many black staff' were trying to save my life - why not? because that sounds stupid - exactly like his other ridiculous and very racist comment.

I'm not racist but £5.1billion buys a lot of BMW's with darkened windows.

Please reread the article.

He is not referring to foreign players.

He's talking about Viareggio, the Italian youth team.

My understanding is that these would be Italian kids.

And it is racist. Why is he only referring to black players, rather than all foreign players?

Do you also us the C word in front of your family?

If people find some words offensive, isn't it polite to simply not use them in front of those people?
