Well it is according to ISIS, who also have these Gems that will no doubt get the 'burn the bra' brigade going !

Women should "remain hidden and veiled", only leaving their homes in exceptional circumstances,

"But, as God wanted it to be, she was made from Adam and for Adam. Beyond this, her creator ruled there was no responsibility greater for her than that of being a wife to her husband."

"Women gain nothing from the idea of their equality with men apart from thorns."

I shall await the ISIS sympathizers on here response with baited breath .....

Pretty standard in the R0P YMB. The *** will be along soon.

Nice constructive answer jim.

I take it you have no opinion to get across and would therefore rather take the pee out of TTT?

I thought BYOB was "bring your own bottle" but forever more I will think of it as "burn your old bra"

Are there any ISIS supporters here?
I thought AB was more "Goldie" :-)
I don't think TTT's answer was particularly constructive, either.

Not really sure there's much to say. Gender inequality is just another reason to hate the guts out of ISIS.
//it Is Considered Legitimate For A Girl To Be Married At The Age Of Nine//

It depends who you are. I know one around here who thinks it's legitimate. Personally, I don't.
http://www.quilliamfoundation.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/publications/free/women-of-the-islamic-state3.pdf

it's clearly aimed at women in the Gulf states, particularly Saudi, and it's also another chance for IS to have a pop at sections of the Saudi elite

//Well it is according to ISIS, who also have these Gems that will no doubt get the 'burn the bra' brigade going !//

Nope. It's instructive on several levels, and as the Quillam Foundation commentary says

//this manifesto will not have been translated because
it will have been deemed ineffective – perhaps even counterintuitive – in achieving its propagandistic aims with a
Western audience.//
Funny how you never see or hear of gays or the women's rights brigade marching to demonstrate against these Islamic ideas.
"Not really sure there's much to say. Gender inequality is just another reason to hate the guts out of ISIS." - but it's not only ISIS is it jim? It's standard stuff throughout the Muslim world and 9 year old brides is a precident set by the prophet himself.
^He’s right. There are those who won’t marry their own daughters off while still children, but they won’t condemn the people who do. They can’t because Mohammed did it and, as someone to be emulated, he is considered beyond reproach.
Isnt ROP, ROY ?
( republic of Yemen ) ?

I agree the TLAs are GOOK - getting out of control....

and *** isn't a kind of sweetie is it ?

The original report was from the Quilliam foundation and an anglo had a good crack of the whip this morning on R4. The fella was saying he had translated it himself which I found pretty impressive
I thought AB was more "Goldie" :-)
O I thought AB was more 'vanilla' myself

thx for the URL, humber
Such an attitude to women is beneath contempt.
Thx for the URL

Charlie Winter at the Quilliam foundation

The document is worth a read -
There is an irony in that ISIS are using advanced western technology to say that true Muslim women should stay at home and knit.

They also say that the twelfth century Islamic savants had gone too far .....
I've never seen any posts on here demonstrating sympathy for ISIS, YMB?
>>>her creator ruled there was no responsibility greater for her than that of being a wife to her husband

Now where have I heard something like that before? Oh, yes. It's in the Bible:
"Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. . .. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything"
[Ephesians].

Not a lot of difference really!
^There’s a reason for that. The Koran is a pale imitation of the bible. Mohammed was big on plagiarism.
It is considered legitimate in cultures other than ours.

To our Western sensibilities, this practice is fundamentally wrong, but we have to remember that in a lot of cultural practices, there are societies that still live in medieval times, and their rules remain rooted in that timeframe.

So yes, it is according to ISIS, not of course according to Western society - this gulf in cultural differences is an example of why it is so hard to create any kind of meaningful dialogue in terms of stopping the hatred and violence spewing out from that culture.
Henry VII was born when his mum was 13 (conceived when she was 12; and it was her second marriage); and the age of consent was still 12 in Victorian times. The fact that his mother had no more children does suggest the dangers of this, though. Personally, I think 16 is too young, but the law, and 15-year-olds, think otherwise.
////Funny how you never see or hear of gays or the women's rights brigade marching to demonstrate against these Islamic ideas.////

Perhaps you should open your eyes/ears a bit more (not to mention your mind).
