I have tio admit that this is the first time I've ever heard the English diet being held up as an example! Why are our Scottish comrades so unhealthy?

I suspec this is their real agenda:
//A tax on fatty and salty foods and subsidies on fruit and vegetables could help close the diet divide, they add//

Probably a load of lentil crunching veggies.
'' why are our Scottish comrades so unhealthy ''? some of us are not unhealthy !!!!!!!!!!!
Battery farmed Haggises have a high fat content because they don't get enough excercise. The free range ones are better as are the wild ones, but they're very expensive, and may contain lead shot.
"Eating like the English could save 4,000 lives a year in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, a study claims."

I'd love to see just how healthy the English diet is compared to the rest of our E.U comrades.

Abroad we're spoilt with garlic, Olive oil and fresh fruit/veg/salads at every meal.

Here we have some burnt and fatty deep fried meat and some stodgy carbs with a spoonful of veg and this is meant to be "Healthy" or "Healthier" than our Scottish/Welsh/Irish counterparts?

I was about to say that this isn't an applause on the English diet but moreso an attack on the Scottish/Welsh/Irish diet but under closer inspection it's exactly as youngmafbog said bar the lentil crunching veggie comment.

Fyi, if your lentils are crunchy then they haven't been cooked thoroughly.
//Abroad we're spoilt with garlic, Olive oil and fresh fruit/veg/salads at every meal//

We have all that in the UK.

My diet is full of veg and salad.
"garlic, Olive oil and fresh fruit/veg/salads at "

OMG what are these things you speak of....

Dietwise they're more talking about the majority and not individual diets as my diet is also healthy.

Mcfluff according to one of the posters they're foodstuffs of a " lentil crunching veggies" although I love meat/poultry but only healthy non fatty cuts :)
well i only eat lumps of lard, rolled in breadcrumbs & deep fried with squeezy cheese as a dipper

And sausages...
lard sausages
Henrietta, never been to Bruxelles for the stomp or a kebab and chips then?

Amadeus is also a good feast favoured by the locals - if you know where to find it. No veg there apart from 1/2 spud. It is an all you can eat rib joint with 2 litre bottles of wine on every table.

And as for the chips, donners and burgers in Spain .....
