so they've been paying money to the UK government and aren't allowed to get it back, as UK citizens do? But UK citizens could do so if they were out of work in other countries? That does seem a trifle unbalanced
I knew jno would think it a splendid idea. He's always keen on ways of spending that enormous, untapped font of free money we have hidden away.
If you went to work in Europe and paid into their system you'd get nowt after you left so why should the UK do it??
i don't see a problem so long as they fulfill their obligation to visit the jobcentre on a daily basis
Do they have Job-centres in Romania, Ael?

They want us to pay benefits to them when they return to their own countries, ael. (I'm guessing cos I haven't had time to read the article)
Slapshot, course you would from many countries and get some pension as well when you reached that countries retirement age.

It even states in that news report that many countries pay unemployment benefit to immigrants after 6 months of work but the UK's requirement is 2 years.
i think my perverse sense of humour is lost on this site but then again i shouldn't be making jokes in the news section
The pribkem is receiving unemployment benefits when not in the country, they cannot be looking for work.

Thus is anither prime dxample of how wrong tge EU is.

slapshot, if you read the story, it says you would get benefits in other countries, and sooner too. So aog's claim that Britain is a soft touch is wrong: other countries are much softer, and aggrieved Brits are free to move there.
