Salmond's next meeting with his own constituents should be interesting.
indeedy...
I'm going to wear my kilt to the match tomorrow.

We're playing Blackpool.

That's in Scotland, isn't it.
I'm going to Firhill tonight to watch Partick Thistle give St. Mirren a doing :-)
hmmm..little Scotland during September weekend break JJ..gaun doon tae see the lichts !
patrick thistle ..a good Irish team..LOL..
If there was no independence vote last night would we have the deals that we have on the table today ?
My opinion. 100%No.
So thanks to Alex and his party for getting them put there
perhaps not..but it was not down to him as an individual ...
For Funks Sake thud!!
jj - The trouble with the Blackpool/Scotland remark is that we never know whether the English are joking or not :-)

minty - ENOUGH! - I've heard every Jags joke there is :-)

steg - I could virtually smell their brains frying with the statistics so I thought I'd help :-)
If nothing else, perhaps, Salmond may well have woken the rest of the Union, and particularly its leaders, to the fact that there is soooo much more to the UK than London and the South East and we/they would welcome greater consideration being given to that fact.
you think everyone has the same opinion on independence before he came along? You're wrong.
steg, yes, I think Salmond has done pretty well. But I don't expect Cameron and Clegg to honour the content of their "pledges" if they can find a way to wriggle out.
Sadly I have to agree with you on that jno, conned by Westminster again I think

There are rather a large population of Scots in Blackpool for some odd reason.
He's resigning. Wow.
He's toast..

Jth, I think they already know that, they're chucking enough of our Money at them already!
// He did what he thought was the best for our country. //

No he did what he thought was best for one Alex Salmond
he would become head of state - and sit with the Big Boys at high table in Brussels and the commonwealth

He couldnt add

He had not idea what he was gonna do with the huge banking sector that props up the Scots economy and is guaranteed by London

He had no idea what he was gonna use to pay for his first independent cup of coffee.

other than that not bad for a city council leader

At least he has fallen on his sword 16 15.

Interesting map here , if it was not for Dundee and Glasgow the NO vote would have been far more emphatic

Highest No 67.7% in the Orkneys ! Lowest No vote 49.1% in Glasgow.
