And this is the woman who, in 2009, tried to make details of MPs expenses exempt from the Freedom of Information act. Jeez.

it's the socialist way zaca!
Well I blame the Peckham electorate for continuing to vote for her following the expenses scandal. Must be a right thick bunch.
Question Author
nothing surprises me, she was sending her kids to private school at the same time as destroying the grammar schools and spouting how good the comprehensives are!
i do like the top and pearl necklace she is wearing though :)
As you say, typical Socialist.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Of course labour are going to put up taxes, they support the politics of envy so what else can they do?
'Doth the lady protest too much?' would be better, TTT!
Did you actually read what 'the lady' actually meant rather than just accepting Cameron's deliberate distortion of it?
//I think people on middle incomes should contribute more through their taxes//

What did she mean?
Question Author
yes I did, read what she said, standard POE socialism, those who earn more should pay more and they do, that's how percentages work. The higher rates bring in very little extra over the standard rates but serve as a deterrant for those trying to better themselves. 20% income tax is plenty. Personally I'd move away from direct taxation anyway. Originally a temporary measure it has become the weapon of choice for socialists to punish prosperity.
All depressing, early electioneering and 10 months to go to the election.

Elections are usually fought by bribing the electorate using on tax cuts or other inducements. The Conservatives (and Labour) are unlikely to be able to offer tax cuts without being irresponsible with the economy.

So they have to resort to spreading false stories about each other.

Cameron does not know Labour's plans, just as Miliband does not know the Conservative's.

Of course Labour are going to call foul. You seem to take that as a sign that there is some truth in the claim. There isn't.
Perhaps if you read the words of the quote with the stress on the word 'should', you might get it, Naomi. In case not, let me explain further. Here's what she says she meant:
"People on middle incomes do pay more tax right now than people on low incomes and that is only right and proper."
In other words, it's their duty, it's what they 'should' do. It refers to the tax arrangements RIGHT NOW not to some FUTURE tax increases.
"Dost The Lady Protesteth Too Much?"

Weeps for dumb Britain..
Maybe Shakey was drunk when penned this preliminary version?
whoooo whoooo whoooo

Look out TTT, It's the Shakespearian Society Rozzers!
Harriet Harperson is starting to look very like Worzel Gummidge
Quizmonster, //It refers to the tax arrangements RIGHT NOW not to some FUTURE tax increases. //

Jolly good. We can all rest easy then.
I'm always glad to set a lady's mind at rest, Naomi!
