I have a cat that visits my garden from about four houses away. Yesterday I spotted her on the grass outside my back garden. There were three magpies around her, they started to move closer, she turned and ran and they chased her back to her own garden.
Today she visited me again, she walks along the wall along the edge of my terrace towards next doors tall pine trees. She sits on the wall looking up the tree, she has climbed up there before. Suddenly two magpies appeared. They were chattering very loudly at her. She again turned tail and ran with the magpies following very closely making a real noise.
It is so funny to see a cat being chased away by birds.

Magpies can do very nasty things to a cat - I don't blame her for running!
even scarier, a cat chases a dog Media URL: http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9373340.ece/alternates/w620/rescuecat.jpg

To the rescue again mamyalynne, thank you.
I'll keep trying till one day I sall get it right. thanks boxtops
The magpies probably have babies.
snap. mamya :-)

I think she may have found the babies, there were a lot of small white feathers on our terrace.
Love that video of the cat attacking the dog though.
Yes Boxy :-) my second link shows the video of the brave cat.
I don't think baby magpies are white - perhaps she got a pigeon.....
Question Author
We do have pigeons around too, so maybe it was.
My cat ate a robin once - I was NOT pleased.
Question Author
Oh boxtop I would have hated to see that, how gruesome.
I once looked after a stray cat that was scared of birds. Two magpies used to literally pull her, by the tail, off her food. It was sad to see it. She was a lovely, gentle cat.
Question Author
It's only happened in the last few days. Prior to that she used to stare them out,
making funny chattering sounds.
