The greatest driver of his generation and probably of all time was cruelly taken in a split second at the famous Imola circuit.

I'll never forget the Sunday afternoon of that bank holiday weekend, it was simply inconcievable that such a talent could fall victim to a catastrophic crash.

RIP Ayrton Senna

I remember it too, CD. Watched the whole thing live with my late husband. We thought the worst even though Murray was saying things like, "he's moving."

Great loss to the Sport.
Don't forget Ratzenberger.
ITV4@10:30-12:40 Senna (docu-film)
yeah, I remember it live chill, I was huge fan, not that I was bothered about the money but I had £200 on him to win the F1 crown that year! I got the DVD for Xmas.
quite right snags, I did forget ratzenburger, tragic weekend.

I hadn't forgotten Ratzenberger, no F1 fan would.
Most recall that dreadful weekend of racing, it's just that the main memories are of (arguably) the greatest driver of all time and his legacy dying right before our very eyes, otherwise we'd have to make a case for every F1 driver that's ever died on a circuit.
Ratzenberger is not forgotten, it's just that Senna's death always took the headlines that weekend and always will.
''I hadn't forgotten Ratzenberger''

I didn't mean you specifically Chill, just a general comment. Barrichello was also lucky that weekend.

Apologies if I sounded as if I'd taken offence.

Indeed he was snags, as were Lehto and Lamy.
It was a terrible weekend which (thankfully) saw the last death in F1.
Hopefully the increased driver safety as a result will be another facet of
Senna's legacy.
