Good evening and a Happy New Year to all members of the Mad Over Fifties Club.
Tonight we may try to keep our proceedings on the quiet side, in total contrast to all our recent festivities. So tonight, our tailcock will be the optimistically named "Summer Breeze" more in hope than expectation of an improvement in our weather.
On the Hot plate tonight, we have a delicious Cottage pie (we had a few spare cottages around the estate so why not?) on the pudding trolley a blast from the past in the shape of a jam roly poly with lashings of custard! Of course we will also have the usual volly vonts, horses doovers and canopies ready for our members.
Owing to adverse weather conditions the bungee will not be in use tonight and we have also decided that the hot tub on the North Tower will also be unavailable. We do have many other delights for our members, the indoor pool is ready for use, and we have installed a smaller hot tub down in the cellars by the pool, for those members who do like to use the hot tub) The games room have a wide array of games and amusements for our members use. Our well stocked library has all the latest magazines and periodicals including the Wheeltappers Gazette! Somewhere up in the gallery the Minstrels are already tuning up the madrigals and fugues and in the ballroom the Tone Deafs are returning with a selections of the Hits of Yesteryear!
Igor has returned from his short holiday relaxed and ready to serve drinks, hide coats and generally be the masterful ancient family retainer! He will be ably assisted by his minion Frank who has returned from Minion School a reformed (we hope) character!
Finally, a quick Thank you to Queenie for taking over last weeks's meeting owing to my indispostion
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals

Good evening Madame Queenie, I trust you are well? Would you be oblige me abd come and fill the "tank" thank you so much. I must keep an eye on young Frank, I do not really trust him yet
My apologies Madame Daisy, I do hope you have not been waiting too long. Chubb must have fallen behind in his door opening duties. I shall fetch you some refreshments as soo n as I have concealed yououter vestments

It's yourself Daisy, come in and get warm by the fire, I'm sure Igor will fetch you something to drink in a moment or two. You didn't fly here in this I hope?
Thanks Igor, I was about to try scaling the wall. Eric loves a challenge. Malkin is rather damp, Saucer even more so and I am in dire need of a Summer Breeze rather than the Winter Tailwind.
Question Author
I'm sure Eric and Malkin will dry out nicely in the snug, they'll find Teddy already in there basking by the fire
Oh what a lovely fire! I shall soon be warm again. Had to fly, so many roads flooded and trains are terribly expensive. Getting to and from them are a problem. Do send Frank to see Malkin, they were friends. Both a bit naughty I am afraid.
Is there a raffle tonight? I have come prepared.
A verse to greet you all this rainy evening:

Goodbye to fifty shades of Cornish cloudy skies, the wind and rain
And so nice to see more rain shine out again
Eight weeks of rain and river flowing bank high
And welcome the Nungate Towers, you brighten up the sky.

The woods are drab grey and green. a ferocious southern breeze
And not so pleasant to sit in the icy shade of the trees
For the weekend idiotic visitors gone to sea
And I alone the Towers woods belong to me.

The rain swelled the moat by silent Queenie trees flow
And sharp hued piranhas flitted to and fro
And wildering Daisy-Nonnas of every different hue
Of pink and white and yellow, red and blue.

Tone's lovers gone to sea and the Towers goats' bay
And the Towers woods all mine on January's first rainy day
Hello again to cloudy skies and Igor's wine and chains
And so nice to see the Tailcocks shine out again.

Evening DT, glad to see you haven't been blown away nor washed out to sea. Apart from that I hope you are well.

I think the pair of them have already met up in the snug Daisy, judging by the giggles emanating from there
Evening DTC. I love a good wilder. Especially with s a gness.
Just more rain here now....something that unusual.....even had a glimpse of the sun earlier.
Question Author
caught a glimpse of that too, late afternoon it was, glowed red, apart from a few showers hasn't been too bad today
Wednesday was sunny! Thursday and Friday wash outs. The wind was frightening, thought my windows would blow in.
Ah, DT sir, are you imbibing or shall I fetch you the innocuous brew? It is January after all and I believe it is your custom to forego the alcoholic refreshments at this time
Question Author
Sounds very bad Daisy, our front windows face full west and usually feel the full force of these winds - Queenie doesn't like it at all!
Indeed, Igor, the annual liver and the rest of it purging begins 00.01 tomorrow evening into Monday.....so I am fine with a bouquet this evening....thank you, the one engraved 'Hic'
This Summer Breeze is certainly moreish. May I request a refill?
I have a refill right here Madame Daisy
