It seems our EU masters are shutting the stable door only after Angie's knicker size is common knowledge! Classic EUSSR!

//The vote is non-binding but illustrates MEPs' growing unease over how much data was shared with the US.//

it's a political point - Westminster do similar things

This is pretty serious - we're in the middle of negotiations over the largest free trade zone in the World and the Americans have been caught tapping the phones of 35 World learders

Imagine the fuss if it had been the Russians tapping Obama's Blackberry!
They've probably been trying to do just that, Jake!
We've come a long way since 1929, when the US Secretary of State shut down the State Department's cryptanalytic office saying, "Gentlemen don't read each other's mail." (He later changed his mind!).
I'm sure your lot have been tapping Obama's phone Jake.

//The European Parliament voted to suspend its Terrorist Finance Tracking Program (TFTP) agreement with the US, in response to the alleged tapping of EU citizens' bank data held by the Belgian company SWIFT//

What a stupid thing to do stop sharing data designed to stop terrorism.

and whats the problem anyway, dont they realize bank regulations will have all the data sent to the authorities everywhere anyway?

SWIFT don't deal with individuals (although there may be some beneficiary information there I guess), it is an interbank system.
the Victorians in Britain felt the same way - Afghanistan may have been the Great Game, but spying was not gentlemanly and they didn't do it.
// The vote is non-binding //

ie pointless.
