by the relevant body, just as Stuart Hall's was:

One might expect this to be scrutinised, given that he worked on children's services.

Unbelievable.
I sometimes wonder what paedophiles have to do get put away. (Only sometimes.)
That is dreadful, he should have been given a lengthy jail sentence.
Given his job, a Prison term would have been the least I think he should have received.

///Jon Brown, head of strategy for sexual abuse at children's charity NSPCC, said a suspended sentence was "not enough" for the "incredibly huge haul of dreadful pictures".
"A jail term would have sent a much stronger message that this is a very serious crime," he said///.
What exactly does 'made indecent images' mean?

This left me somewhat perplexed too:

He sounds particularly dangerous and if anything needed his sentence increased too, not reduced.
Won't be long before we're hearing yet another horror story about a combined failure between Police, Social Services and Probation officers in this case I fear.
Downloading and making images are two different things in my mind.
Thanks for the link.

That boy is a worry. 2 previous convictions for sexual assault, on bail for a third at the time of the offence.
I assume it amounts to making a copy of an image, so he has an image he's made that's identical to an image that somebody else still has (as he hasn't got the original).
That makes sense.

Some people might think that 'making an image' involved actually taking photos of children whilst they were being abused.
This is going to help more paedophiles than their victims: Pickwick was right!
Did the judge sentence according to guidelines?

If he did there is something seriously wrong with the system.
if that happened, they'd probably be charged as an accessory to the actual abuse, I imagine.
Of course they would, jno. I just wish all news reports were clear - it might stop people jumping to conclusions.
Not in the same league as actually physically abusing children though is it?
He had images no evidence he did anything other than store them on his computer. I am not condoning it but it is a lesser offence than real abuse of children .
People viewing an image of a child being abused are guilty of child abuse imo...
who are we speaking of?
I cannot see how it can be a lesser offence Eddie, as that person was still wallowing in children being abused by others, therefore continuing the cycle of abuse the victims suffered. He should therefore be judged according to his deserts as a predatory paedophile, and sent to prison for a minumum of 15 years before parole is considered.
Legal technicality: if you download an image from somewhere else and save it on your drive then you have 'made' that image

Seems unnecessarily obtuse; easily confused by many people with someone creating an original image
grannie - link is in the OP at the top
