He said "having taken responsibility for something which happened 10 years ago..."

Shouldn't that have been "having FINALLY taken responsibility..."?

JJ...he is a rich b@stard who has been sh@gging someone else who is not his wife, he has been found out and we,,,the British public want him shafting..........

This statement in the guardian speaks volumes of his shallow addmitionof the charges:
Taking responsibility for 'something that happened' rather than 'something I did'

Wouldn't trust anything this man says whatever role in society he may have left.
Would he have taken responsibility if his Ex hadn't spilled the beans?
what a w....r - deserves a year at least but I bet it is 6 months out in 3.

Then there is the damage that he has done to the Lib Demos - doesn't exactly add to their image does it?
DT what exactly is the image of lib dems that you think he has damaged? not a very trustworthy party in any respect imo. but then what politician is trustworthy.
Jeremy Thorpe, Cyril Smith, Mark Oaten, and now Huhne. It's all a far cry from the days of Jo Grimond.
#storminateacup
you may be right, Lady J, that he has added to the general malaise of the party, a slightly seedy image.

Don't forget Pantsdown aka Ashtray either, sandy!
Its hard to believe you don't understand how serious this is,jj.
When I walk down the street at night, hoping the Police will help to keep me safe ...

And the Police are complaining that they can't do their job because their resources are too stretched ...

I can't get overly excited about dedicating those hard pressed resources to catching people whose spouses take their speeding points.

When people get burgled, and old people lose their life savings, the Police often say they haven't got enough resources to go and find the criminals. Poor old pensioners.

Still, at least they are tracking down those evil motorists, eh.

And we have ascertained, yes, that none of us would ever deceive the Police about our driving habits by slowing down for a speed camera?
So, no ...

I don't think it's serious. I think it's a ludicrous farce, and an abuse of public funds.
An upgrade on the three kinds of lies:
Lies, damned lies and politicians.
i have to agree with JJ. This is hardly the crime of the century. Yes he should be punished but i would also hope that She would be punished the same amount at least (not jj, but the ex wife)
she just comes accross as vindictive and bitter

Perfect.

With some mouldy fruit.

Throw the mouldy fruit at him, and send him on his way.
He's been charged with perverting the course of justice over a speeding offence .

Remind me , did anyone get charged with perverting the course of justice over what happened at the North Wales children's homes , or maybe that isn't quite as important as speeding ?
He's been charged with perverting justice because he's been perverting justice.
Try for a moment to forget about speeding, points,Iicences and cars.
He's lied to you,me,parliament & the country in general for 10yrs.
Ten years in which he's been pontificating on legal matters & framing laws for the rest of us.
The police & courts have indeed wasted a lot of time on this. All down to him.
4/5yrs in the sweepstake.
Jayne, he's not being done for speeding or no insurance. Yes, we all slow down at speed cameras and yes, we all drive over the speed limit.

How serious you think it is depends on whether lying to avoid being taken off the road, or the risk of it, and roping someone else in to the plan, is worth prosecuting. If you think that speeding offences shouldn't be prosecuted and that repeated offences shouldn't take a driver off the road, that's fine, but I suspect you don't. Why then should a man who tries to avoid the consequences by calculated deception, tantamount to perjury, not be prosecuted ? Why should he get off when others accept the consequences of speeding?
"Yes, we all slow down at speed cameras and yes, we all drive over the speed limit."

No, some of us don't so please do not include everyone in your sweeping generalisations.
